THE PROBLEM Somewhere in your six windows is the tab with the thing you need. You know the site. You do not know the window. So you go window by window, squinting at sixteen-pixel favicons, and by the time you find it you have forgotten why you wanted it. Simply Tab Manager Pro puts every tab you have in one grid and lets you type at it. WHAT IT DOES • Every open tab, in every window, on one screen — grouped by window, with each window card labelled from what is actually in it and counted. • Type to filter. The search is always listening: you do not click the box first, you just start typing and the grid narrows. • Press Enter on a single match to jump straight to that tab. Press it on many and they are all picked out for you. • Pick tabs with the mouse — click to jump, Ctrl-click (Cmd on a Mac) to add one, Shift-click for a run of them — then act on the lot. • Close, pin, unpin, mute, unmute, send to sleep, group, ungroup, or gather the picks into a window of their own. • Find repeats. One pass, and only the redundant copies are picked: a pinned copy, the one you are looking at, and the one you visited most recently are all left alone, so "close these" is safe before you read it. • Undo. Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z) puts back the last thing you did, and a closed tab comes back with its history where the browser still has it. • Tab groups are shown as they are — the group's own name, its own colour, and a count when it is collapsed. SEARCH THAT NARROWS BY FIELD Type plain words to search titles, addresses and hosts at once, or aim: h:github the host only t:invoice the title only u:/pull/ the address only "release notes" a phrase, kept together -slack everything but that is:pinned also: active, audible, muted, discarded, grouped, incognito, loading, dupe docs or sheets either one Half-typed queries mean what you are on your way to typing. An unclosed quote closes itself, and a prefix with nothing after it yet is simply ignored, so the list narrows as you type and never blanks out under a keystroke. OPENS BEFORE IT ASKS The grid is painted from a small local cache on the way up, so tiles are on screen before the browser has answered a single question about your tabs; the live answer arrives milliseconds later and folds into the same view. There is no framework in the package, and the build refuses to produce a package at all if the popup's boot path grows past its size budget. Above 150 tabs the grid recycles its rows instead of drawing thousands of them. FOUR LAYOUTS, SIX THEMES Tiles, Large tiles, Rows and List — cycle them from the toolbar strip or jump straight to one with Alt+1 to Alt+4. Daylight and Paper in the light. Midnight, Graphite and Carbon in the dark. Beacon is a fixed high-contrast palette for when the others are not readable enough. Leave it on Follow system and it tracks your OS and switches live. Eight accents, three densities, a reduced-motion setting, and a popup you can size yourself. Every theme and accent pairing is checked against WCAG AA contrast by a build gate — 1,763 pairs, and a package is not produced if one of them regresses. THE KEYBOARD Ctrl+Shift+E (Cmd+Shift+E) opens it. After that every letter goes to the search, and every verb is on Alt, so nothing sits between you and typing. Arrows move a cursor, Shift+arrows stretch the picks, Space picks the one under the cursor, Ctrl+A takes everything showing, Ctrl+Shift+A flips it. Alt+P pins, Alt+M mutes, Alt+S sleeps, Alt+G groups, Alt+D finds repeats, Alt+H hides what does not match. Press ? for the whole list without leaving the grid. Prefer it bigger? Open it in a full browser tab from the toolbar icon's menu, or run it in Chrome's side panel and keep it beside your work. NOTHING LEAVES YOUR DEVICE There is no account, no sign-in, no server and no analytics. The extension makes no network request of any kind and works with the network off. Your settings live on this device and are never synced. Anything keyed to a window is held in memory only and is gone when Chrome closes. The cache that makes the grid open fast keeps hosts and shortened titles — never full addresses, and never anything at all from an incognito window. It expires after thirty minutes, and Settings → Data can clear it or switch it off. Settings also has a badge you can turn off, an optional tabs-per-window limit that moves the overflow into a window of its own, and your whole settings file to export and load back. ABOUT THAT WARNING Chrome will tell you this extension can "read your browsing history". That is Chrome's phrase for the tabs permission, and what it actually means here is the title and address of the tabs you have open — which is the grid. It is not your history file: that is a separate permission, and the history API is not called anywhere in this build. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO No content scripts. It never runs on the pages you visit and never reads what is on them. It asks for no access to any website. It cannot see page contents, form fields, cookies or passwords — only the title, address and state of a tab, which is what a tab manager is.
