Simple Web Recorder is a local-first screen recording studio for Chrome. It records the tab you choose without playing that tab's audio out loud, layers in your camera and microphone, and keeps every frame on your own machine. No account. No sign-up. No upload. Your recordings are written to local browser storage and saved with Chrome's own download flow. Because the AI runs on your own hardware, there is no per-minute cost to pass on to you, so there is no reason to bill you every month for it. PRIVACY The recording path never touches a server. Captured video, audio, camera frames, captions, narration text, and scripts stay in local extension storage until you download or delete them. The extension declares no broad website host permission - it uses Chrome's temporary activeTab grant only for the tab you deliberately start recording. Two network paths exist, and both are disclosed in full in the extension's Privacy page: - After you explicitly start Whisper or AI voiceover, the selected open-source model is downloaded once from Hugging Face and cached. Your audio and text are never sent - only the model comes down. - Pro purchase status is checked with ExtensionPay, which processes payment through Stripe. That carries a random install identifier and your paid/unpaid state, nothing else. The extension does not attempt to bypass DRM, HDCP, or website capture restrictions.
