Overview
Keep your place with a reading guide that follows the mouse. Dim surrounding text or tint one line; adjust color and opacity.
Simple Reader Line adds a reading ruler that tracks your mouse vertically. A clear band keeps the current row visible while the area above and below is dimmed, giving you line focus through a long article. Enable it for a website, then guide the pointer down the document at your own pace. This reading mask sits over the content without changing its words. Clicks and text selection pass through, so you can open a link or copy a passage while keeping your place. The overlay disappears when the pointer leaves the window. 🎯 WHAT YOU GET • Match the band to the type size with a height between 20 and 200 pixels. • Choose a color and opacity in the popup, with a preview before you return to the article. • Switch to inverted mode to highlight the line you are following instead of dimming its surroundings. • Keep the aid active only on chosen websites, and record a hotkey to turn it on or off there. 🔧 HOW IT WORKS 1. Open the website where you want the guide. 2. Click the toolbar icon and switch on "Enable for this site". 3. Move the mouse over the text; the band follows its vertical position. 4. Adjust the height and tint in the popup. Changes apply without a reload. No shortcut is assigned initially. To set one, click the hotkey field and press your preferred combination. The controls use physical key positions across keyboard layouts. 💡 GOOD TO KNOW Can it help with studying or proofreading? You can focus on one row of small print at a time, then move to the next when you are ready. It does not advance automatically or follow your eyes. Is it a treatment for dyslexia? No. It is a visual aid with adjustable appearance, without a medical claim. It works on ordinary web content; protected internal pages and the extension store cannot display it. 🔒 PRIVACY No account is required. Your preferences and enabled websites use browser sync storage, so they can follow you across devices when sync is on. The overlay does not need to read the document's words. Access to the current tab lets the popup show which website you are enabling.
