Overview
Sample a pixel on a webpage, copy its HEX code, and revisit your last 50 shades. A zoom loupe helps you aim precisely.
Simple Color Picker reads a visible pixel on a webpage and copies its value to your clipboard. Use the eyedropper to match a border or sample a reference image without estimating the shade by eye. A zoom loupe enlarges the area around the pointer, with a reticle marking the exact spot you will select. The tool samples a snapshot of the visible tab. Scroll to the area you need before starting; content outside that view is not included. This helps when you want to get color from website artwork as it appears on screen, rather than inspect its underlying styles. 🎯 SAMPLE AND REUSE • Aim at a thin edge using the magnified grid and live readout. • Choose HEX, RGB or HSL as the default notation for automatic copying. • Revisit your last 50 shades in the popup, where repeated picks are kept without duplicates. • Select a saved swatch to inspect its values and copy another notation. The history survives restarts and can be cleared from the popup. You can return to an earlier reference even after moving to a different tab, without finding the same pixel again. ⌨️ HOW IT WORKS 1. Open the extension and press the pick button, or use Alt+P. 2. Move the pointer until the loupe frames the shade you need. 3. Click to copy the result, then paste it into your project. 4. Reopen the popup to review saved swatches or change the default format. Press Escape or right-click to cancel sampling. The popup shows the current keyboard shortcut and opens the shortcut settings if you want to change it. 💡 GOOD TO KNOW Can I use the color code in CSS? Yes. Paste the copied value into a stylesheet or another tool that accepts that notation. Does it work beyond the active webpage? Sampling is limited to the visible tab, rather than other applications. Protected pages, including internal settings, do not allow the tool to run. 🔒 ON YOUR DEVICE The snapshot is processed locally rather than uploaded for analysis. Your saved swatches and preferred format remain in local extension storage. No account is required.
