Sidenote — read with AI, verify with one click. Sidenote is a side-panel reading assistant that lives on the page you're reading. Ask anything about the document; every answer is grounded in the source, and each citation chip jumps to the exact sentence on the source page. Works on browser-rendered PDFs, web articles, Confluence pages, and uploaded files (PDF, DOCX, TXT, Markdown). Four core actions Summarise — TL;DR bullets, a clean paragraph, or a structured 400-600 word deep read. Pick the length, get clean markdown. Chat with citations — every claim carries a numbered chip. Click it and the source scrolls to the supporting sentence and highlights it. When the model bookends a multi-sentence topic, each cited sentence is highlighted separately so you see exactly what was used. Explain simply — select a passage, pick a reading level (like I'm 12, like I'm 16, or layperson), and Sidenote rewrites it without losing accuracy. Build a glossary — pull out jargon, acronyms, and proper nouns, each with a definition grounded in where it appeared. Citations that actually work Most AI tools mark citations with vague references. Sidenote's chips jump to the exact sentence on the source page. The model is forced to attach a verbatim quote to every claim; the server validates each one against the chunk's stored content — tolerating small typography and inline-citation differences — and drops anything it can't verify. If the document doesn't answer your question, you'll be told plainly. Uploaded documents get their own viewer Drop in a DOCX, TXT, or Markdown file and Sidenote both ingests it and renders it as a clean, navigable page in the dashboard — same citation chips, same scroll-to-source highlighting, no separate viewer to manage.
