Overview

Vertical tabs in Chrome's side panel: switch between spaces, keep pinned tabs and favourites, auto-archive idle tabs. Free and open.

Sidecove puts your tabs in a clean vertical sidebar in Chrome's side panel and organises them into spaces: one for work, one for personal, one per project. SPACES Each space has its own pinned tabs, folders and colour. Switch with a click, a keyboard shortcut, a trackpad swipe, or your mouse's back and forward buttons. Drag a space chip to reorder your spaces. PINNED TABS AND FAVOURITES Keep your always-open sites at the top of every space. A pinned tab that has wandered off can jump back to its pinned page in one click. FOLDERS Group pinned tabs into folders, nest them, and still see the open tab inside a collapsed folder. AUTO-ARCHIVE Optionally let tabs you haven't touched for a while close on their own. Your pinned tabs and favourites are never archived. YOUR DATA STAYS YOURS Spaces and pinned tabs are saved as ordinary Chrome bookmarks in a "Sidecove" folder, so they sync with your Google account and survive a reinstall. Nothing is sent to any server. No analytics, no account. KEYBOARD FIRST Alt+S toggles the sidebar, Alt+D pins or unpins the current tab, and you can set shortcuts for the next or previous tab in a space and for copying the current URL. Coming from the Arc browser? Sidecove brings that sidebar, spaces and pinned-tab workflow to Chrome. Sidecove is free and open source (GPL-3.0): https://github.com/matthewmoorcroft/sidecove It is based on Arcify by Nisarg Kolhe (https://github.com/nisargkolhe/arcify). Sidecove is an independent project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by The Browser Company or the Arc browser. Permission justifications: - tabs: Shows the user's open tabs in the sidebar (title, URL, favicon) and switches, moves, opens and closes them when the user acts in the sidebar. - tabGroups: Optional setting "Sync spaces to Chrome tab groups" mirrors each space to a native tab group. It is also used to import existing tab groups as spaces on first setup. - sidePanel: The extension's whole interface is a sidebar in Chrome's side panel. - storage: Saves the user's settings and the state of each space (name, colour, order, which tabs belong to it) in the browser. - bookmarks: Spaces, folders and pinned tabs are stored as bookmarks in a "Sidecove" bookmark folder, so they persist and sync with the user's Chrome profile. - alarms: Runs the optional auto-archive check that closes tabs left idle for longer than the user's chosen time. - favicon: Shows site icons next to tabs and pinned tabs in the sidebar. - scripting: Fallback for the "Copy current URL" shortcut: if the offscreen clipboard write fails, it writes the URL to the clipboard from the active page. - clipboardWrite: The "Copy current URL" shortcut and menu item write the current tab's URL to the clipboard. - offscreen: Creates an offscreen document (reason CLIPBOARD) so the "Copy current URL" keyboard shortcut can write to the clipboard from the service worker. - Remote code: No, I am not using remote code. All code is packaged in the extension. Data usage: tick Web history, since the extension reads the URLs and titles of open tabs, and Website content only if the reviewer form treats tab titles that way. Then tick all three certifications: - I do not sell or transfer user data to third parties, outside of the approved use cases. - I do not use or transfer user data for purposes that are unrelated to my item's single purpose. - I do not use or transfer user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
