Copy any page or selection as clean Markdown, ready to paste into Claude, ChatGPT, Obsidian or your notes. Sidecar Clipper converts any webpage or selected text into clean Markdown and copies it straight to your clipboard — ready to paste into AI tools, notes, or docs. Two ways to use it: - Select text on any page, right-click, and choose "Copy as Markdown" - Click the toolbar icon to capture the whole article Headings, links, images, code blocks and tables are kept. Simple tables become Markdown tables; tables with merged cells or code inside them are kept as plain HTML so no cell is lost. Menus, ads, cookie banners and other page clutter are stripped out. No account, no setup, and nothing you clip is ever transmitted anywhere — the conversion happens entirely in your browser. WHEN SOMETHING IS LEFT OUT A green tick on the icon means everything in the capture reached your clipboard. If part of the page could not be included, the icon shows an amber "!" instead. Hover over the icon to see what was left out. This applies to: - embedded frames, videos, audio and canvas drawings, which have no Markdown form - side boxes next to an article, such as related-story panels - on Wikipedia: the See also, References, External links and Notes sections, infoboxes and maintenance notices (citation markers like [1] are removed as well) KNOWN LIMITATIONS - Whole-page mode copies the page's main region. Site menus, sidebars and footers outside it are left out by design. - Text a site hides with CSS (for example a mobile-only copy of a column) can appear twice. - Selections inside embedded frames, and pages Chrome does not let extensions read (chrome:// pages, the Web Store, the built-in PDF viewer), cannot be copied. The icon shows a red "x". ON UNINSTALL If you remove the extension, Chrome opens a short feedback page. It receives the extension's own name, its version, how many days it was installed, and whether you ever completed a clip — no personal identifier, no account, and nothing you ever clipped or visited. The form itself is optional and asks for no personal details. PERMISSIONS - activeTab: reads the page you're currently on, only when you click the extension - contextMenus: adds the right-click "Copy as Markdown" option - clipboardWrite: copies the result to your clipboard - scripting: runs the conversion on the page you clicked - storage: remembers how long you've had the extension installed, for the uninstall feedback above It does not request access to your browsing history, your identity, or any site you don't explicitly click it on.
