Manage conversation context with ChatGPT's own native branch feature while keeping the original conversation visible beside it. Side Branch for ChatGPT adds a non-overlapping Sidecar to saved ChatGPT conversations, including chats inside Projects. Each Sidecar is backed by a real native ChatGPT branch, so you can ask follow-up questions without changing the main conversation. Branch creation, inherited context, model responses, files, and available apps/tools all continue to use ChatGPT's native features inside your existing authenticated ChatGPT session. The extension does not reconstruct conversation context on a developer backend, call private ChatGPT APIs, or create an additional developer-operated cloud copy of your chats or files. Features: • Create and use a real ChatGPT branch directly in the Sidecar. • Keep the original conversation visible; the page reflows instead of being covered. • See complete rich responses with headings, lists, links, code, quotes, and tables. • Reference selected text using a native-style action beside “Ask ChatGPT.” • Attach local files and use the apps and tools available in your ChatGPT account. • Briefly close and later restore all branches, or hold the header close button for three seconds to delete every Side Chat branch after an explicit warning. • Use the same workflow in regular chats and chats inside ChatGPT Projects. Privacy disclosure: To provide the Sidecar, the extension reads conversation content on chatgpt.com, including text you explicitly choose to reference, and handles only files you explicitly attach. This data is used solely to create, operate, synchronize, and display your native ChatGPT branch. Conversation and file content stays between your browser and your own authenticated ChatGPT session; the developer operates no data server and receives no chats, files, analytics, or account credentials. This avoids adding a developer-controlled data channel beyond ChatGPT's normal service processing. Only minimal branch-link metadata and your privacy-consent choice are stored locally in Chrome.
