)Overview
Privacy-first AI writing layer for the browser.
ShroomPen is a free, local-first AI writing assistant for Chrome and Chromium browsers. Use it to draft, rewrite, summarize, copy, insert, or replace text in supported web-page fields. Open ShroomPen from the extension button, keyboard shortcut, or page context menu. You choose the context for each request, including the current field, selected text, current page, browser tabs, notes, and saved Workspace Sources. ShroomPen does not change the page until you choose Insert or Replace. Connect your own OpenRouter, OpenAI, Gemini, Anthropic, compatible HTTPS, or local-model provider. Requests go directly from the extension to your chosen provider. Remote providers require HTTPS; configured localhost providers may use HTTP. No ShroomPen account or ShroomPen-hosted AI backend is required. Provider credentials are stored in Chrome extension storage without additional ShroomPen encryption. The browser extension has no advertising or analytics. The separate ShroomPen website uses aggregate page-view analytics. ShroomPen includes disabled-domain controls and safeguards designed to avoid recognized password, payment, and one-time-code fields. You remain in control of the context sent and the generated text you use.
