Shopify Admin Dark Mode
Overview
Adds a dark mode toggle to the Shopify admin and Partners dashboard.
The Shopify admin has no dark mode. If you work at night, opening it is a flashbang. This adds a toggle to the admin's own top bar, right next to Sidekick. Click it and the whole admin goes dark. Click it again and you're back. Your choice is remembered, and the page is already dark on the next load — no white flash before it catches up. It also covers the Shopify Partners dashboard, and embedded apps built with Shopify's own design system. HOW IT LOOKS RIGHT Most dark mode extensions invert the page and hope. This one doesn't. Shopify already ships a dark colour palette in the admin — it just never exposed a switch for it. This extension turns on Shopify's own palette, so the colours are the ones their design team chose rather than ones guessed by a filter. Where a page has no dark palette, the theme is derived from that page's own light colours instead, and only neutral greys are changed — brand colours, status badges and links keep exactly the colour they had. NOTHING GETS BURIED A few components hardcode a light colour instead of reading the theme. Those would leave light grey text on a white box: invisible. The extension measures the real contrast of text against its own background and repairs only pairs that are genuinely unreadable, so it can never hide something that was legible before.
