Overview
Save screenshots, page titles, URLs, tags, and categories to a local inspiration library.
Shelf is a local-first Chrome extension for capturing, organizing, and preserving visual inspiration from the web. Save visible-page or full-page screenshots, selected areas, individual page elements, and text quotes in your own private inspiration library. Shelf automatically captures useful website details—including the page description, colors, and font families—while keeping every field editable. Organize references with titles, descriptions, source URLs, tags, categories, and collections, then browse everything in a clean, minimal grid. Your library is stored locally in the browser using IndexedDB. You can also choose a folder on your computer to save captures as PNG images with accompanying JSON metadata, keeping your inspiration archive under your control. Features: Capture the visible part of a webpage Capture and stitch an entire scrolling webpage Select and capture a custom area Pick and capture a specific page element Save selected text as a quote card Prefill descriptions from website metadata Extract website colors and font families Copy extracted hex colors with one click Organize items with tags, categories, and collections Search, sort, and filter saved references Edit saved item details Detect likely duplicate references Export and import the library as JSON Export a browsable HTML index Optionally save captures locally as PNG and JSON files
