Overview

Fast data entry for Google Sheets: a panel that floats over your sheet and writes rows into the grid.

SheetConsole is a small panel that floats over your Google Sheets™ spreadsheet. Fill in a form, press Enter, and the row lands in your tab – with the same formatting, the same dropdowns, and nothing overwritten by accident. WHAT IT DOES • New Row – a form built from your tab's own headers. Add a row at the end, insert one anywhere, or open an existing row and edit it. • Copy from the row above – the previous row's values sit beside each box; one click copies a value, or all of them. • Fields that match your columns – a dropdown column gets a dropdown, a checkbox column a checkbox, a date column a date box with a calendar. • Search – find rows by typing into any column (numbers and dates are found by their value, however they're shown), then click a row to edit it. • New Tab – make a new, empty tab set up just like the one you're on. • Keyboard first – type, press Enter to move on, Enter in the last box to add the row. GETTING STARTED 1. Open any Google Sheets file and press Alt+R (or click the SheetConsole icon). 2. The first time, Google asks whether SheetConsole may see and edit your spreadsheets – it needs this to read your headers and write your rows. 3. Tick the columns you fill in by hand, click Done, and start typing. GOOD TO KNOW • It never overwrites by surprise: before writing, it checks the sheet again, and if a row has changed, it inserts instead or stops and tells you. • Undo in Sheets (Ctrl+Z) doesn't take back what SheetConsole writes – it arrives like a collaborator's edit. Every earlier version stays in File → Version history. • Your settings (which columns you chose) are kept in your own Chrome profile. PRIVACY SheetConsole works only between your browser and Google. There is no SheetConsole server: your data never passes through anyone else's computer, and nothing is collected or shared. SheetConsole is made by Wheaton Web Development and is not affiliated with Google. Google Sheets is a trademark of Google LLC.
