Turn captioned YouTube videos into focused listening and speaking practice. Shadowing Studio places the current caption and playback controls in a browser side panel, so you can listen to a sentence, repeat it aloud, and move through a video at your own pace. PRACTICE THE WAY YOU LEARN • Choose complete sentences or shorter practice chunks. • Use continuous playback, stop after one practice unit, or loop that unit. • Jump to the previous or next unit and adjust playback speed from 0.5× to 2×. • Hide the text for listening practice and reveal it when you need it. KEEP YOUR PLACE • Read the full transcript in a separate view and choose a sentence to practise. • Automatic highlighting does not pull the transcript away from your reading position. • Keep track selection and export options tucked into collapsible subtitle tools. • Switch the interface between English and Chinese without changing the video's caption language. SAVE CAPTIONS LOCALLY Choose an available caption track and export original cues or grouped sentences as SRT, TXT, Markdown, or JSON. Files are generated on your device. Export only content you have permission to use. GET STARTED Open a YouTube video with accessible captions, then click the extension's toolbar icon. Choose a caption track if necessary and start practising. The extension does not require a separate Shadowing Studio account. PRIVACY Video information, captions, and playback state are processed in your browser. Preferences and per-video caption-track selections are stored locally. The extension requests captions from YouTube using the browser's existing session; it does not send your practice data to a developer-operated server and includes no advertising or analytics. LIMITATIONS The extension needs readable YouTube captions; it does not transcribe videos without captions, record your microphone, or score pronunciation. Access restrictions, verification checks, and changes to YouTube may prevent captions from loading. Compatibility with every video, including Shorts, is not guaranteed.
