SFXplorer - for Salesforce
Overview
Developer and admin toolkit for Salesforce: inspect records, run SOQL, explore the schema and watch org limits.
SFXplorer is a developer and admin toolkit for Salesforce that works with the org you are already signed in to, right in your browser. Inspect any record, write and run queries, load CSV files, explore the schema, build package.xml, run anonymous code and tests, read logs, watch platform events and check org health, all launched from one panel and without another login. There is no account to create and no server in the middle. Everything goes straight from your browser to your org with the sign-in you already have and runs as you, while anything worth keeping, such as settings and recent work, stays on your computer. Press Alt+I on any Lightning, Setup or Visualforce page to open the panel, or try everything first in demo mode. WHO IT IS FOR • Admins who need a value, an ID, a user comparison or a limit check in seconds • Developers who run scripts, call endpoints and want quick answers while they build • Consultants and architects who explore an unfamiliar schema, build package.xml and review releases • Support and operations teams who look something up by ID or name and want the full picture • Trainers and presenters who need a realistic playground, thanks to a complete fictional company WHY TEAMS USE IT • Everything in one place: more than 15 tools, one click from where you are • Nothing to install or configure in the org: no package, no connected app, no extra sign-in, no separate account • Quick answers: IDs, exact names and object details without digging through menus • Safer edits: updates, imports, deletions and access changes ask you to confirm first • Private by design: no analytics, no tracking, nothing sent to us or to any third party • Stays out of your way: each screen opens in a new tab right next to the one you are on • Clear feedback on long downloads: live progress, elapsed time and a Stop button • Made for daily work: keyboard shortcuts, saved work, light and dark themes, 10 interface languages GETTING STARTED 1. Add the extension to your browser. 2. Sign in to your org as usual and open any of its pages. 3. Press Alt+I, or click the handle on the right edge of the page, to open the panel. 4. Want to look around first? Click the toolbar icon and choose "Explore with demo data" to try every tool with a fictional company. EVERYWHERE YOU WORK In-page panel • Opens beside the page with Alt+I or the handle on the right edge • Shows the record in view with its 15- and 18-character IDs • One click opens any tool for the instance you are in • A search box finds objects by label, name or key prefix, and records by ID or exact name; a few letters of each word are enough, so "case com" finds Case Comment • Rest the pointer on a suggestion to preview it: kind, plural label, key prefix and exact name with a copy button, plus links to Object Manager, its records, the query editor and Schema Explorer • For an ID, the preview shows name, owner, record type and last modified date, with a link to the full view • The card of the current record offers Clone and Export JSON • Adds itself to tabs that were already open when the extension was installed or updated Toolbar popup • The same search and shortcuts from the browser toolbar, with quick access to health and limits Command palette • Press Alt+K and type to jump to any tool • Paste an ID to open that record Setup Shortcuts • The configuration pages you use most, shown as cards and one click away • Add your own links so your daily screens are always close INSPECT AND LOAD Show All Data • The whole record on one screen: every field with its label, API name, type and value • Filters to find a value in seconds, even on objects with hundreds of fields • Inline editing with a confirmation step before anything is saved • Child relationships and the change history • Press Enter on an ID in the panel search to land here Compare Records • Two to five records of the same object side by side • Each field that differs is marked, so duplicates and drift stand out • Starts from the panel with the record in view already filled in SOQL Studio • Several tabs, with syntax highlighting • Suggestions as you type: fields in any clause, including related ones, operators, keywords and even values found in your data • Suggestions appear on their own; Tab accepts one, and Enter adds a new line until you type more or arrow into the list • A field picker, so you never have to remember exact names • The query plan, to see how the platform will execute a statement before you rely on it • Tooling mode, and Query All to include deleted and archived rows • Templates for common needs, such as finding deleted rows • Stop a long-running statement at any time, keep the rows already loaded, and load more when you need them • Edit values in the results grid • Download results as CSV, or copy them for Excel or as JSON • History keeps your last 500 statements, grouped under Today, Yesterday, weekdays and months, with search; saved queries live in a folder tree Data Engine • Insert, update, upsert or delete rows from a CSV file • Map each column to the right field • A dry run checks every row before anything is written • Batches go out in parallel, with a ceiling suited to the edition you are on • A results file for the rows that failed, so you can fix them and load them again STRUCTURE AND RELEASES Schema Explorer • Each object section by section, the way Object Manager shows it: details, fields, picklist values, child relationships, page layouts, record pages, buttons and actions, compact layouts, field sets, record types, list views, triggers, validation rules and more • Links to the matching Setup page • A compare section with a schema diff • Download the metadata of a section as a zip • Hide companion objects (Feed, History, Share, ChangeEvent) to keep the list short, and resize the list to fit your screen Metadata Manager • Build a package.xml for any metadata type available, for the API version you choose • Search the types, list their components (folders included) or add members by name; a problem with one type is shown on that type and never stops the rest • Types are remembered per instance and version; Refresh picks up anything new • Copy the XML or save it as a file • Download the selected components as a zip, with live progress, elapsed time and a Stop button; anything that could not be found is listed, and the file is named after the instance and the time Deployment Intelligence • A summary of each deployment: components, tests, coverage, timing and failures • Recent failed and successful deployments in a single strip, one click away • Open a component's Setup page or copy its name straight from the list • When coverage is missing, it says why in plain words, for example when no tests ran BUILD AND TROUBLESHOOT Apex Studio • Run anonymous Apex and see the debug output, governor limits and the full log Code Studio • Browse and edit classes, triggers and Lightning components • References, tests and coverage next to the code • Drafts are kept on your computer while you work Apex Test & Coverage Studio • Run tests and follow the results • Line-by-line coverage with the uncovered lines marked • See which tests touch a given class Debug Logs Radar • Read, filter and search debug logs • Find in this log: all matches highlighted, a "3 of 12" counter, Enter and Shift+Enter to move between matches, and a "matching lines only" view • Governor limit gauges for a transaction (SOQL, DML, CPU time and heap), taken from all usage sections; the namespace closest to its ceiling is named and the others are listed on hover • Delete logs you no longer need REST API Explorer • Call any REST endpoint and read the response • Format, copy and compare responses side by side; numbers keep exactly the digits they were sent with, and a syntax error points to its line and column • Large texts are formatted in a background worker • Request history and saved requests in folders, with favourites and search; credentials are never stored • Templates to start common calls, and Copy as cURL, JavaScript or Python Platform Event Monitor • Watch platform events, change events and PushTopics as they arrive • Lists the channels available, so you can pick one instead of typing its name • Choose where to start: new messages only, everything still retained, or right after a replay ID • Keep the last 200, 1,000 or 5,000 messages; inspect, search, copy and export each payload • Reconnects by itself and resumes after the last message it received JSON Comparator • Two JSON or text blocks side by side, line by line • All differences are marked, including moved lines and edits inside a line • Format, copy or clear either side with one click • Paste, drop or open a file; up to 3,000 characters per side (longer input is trimmed, with a note), and no connection needed WHO CAN DO WHAT Security Center • A permission workbench for object, field and class access, with a matrix view • Login history • Stage edits, validate them, then apply them after a confirmation that shows how many will be made • Switched off in production and in any org not confirmed as a sandbox or Developer Edition, so nothing is tried on live users • Marked as locked wherever it appears, with the reason one click away Users and Access • Find any user in the directory and see what they can do • Compare two users side by side • Find overlapping permission sets • Filter inactive users HEALTH AT A GLANCE Org Health Cockpit • A heat map across security, code, automation, metadata and limits • Scores that show what needs attention first; a figure that is not known is shown as "No data", never as green • Each tile carries an icon, its value and a label, so status never depends on colour alone • A table view sorted most critical first, and a colour palette designed for colour vision deficiency • Each tile leads to the screen that helps you act on it Org Limits • A gauge for every API and storage limit, coloured by status with marks at 70% and 90% • Used, remaining and maximum values, with details on hover or keyboard focus • Refresh at any time to see the latest figures EVERYDAY EXAMPLES • A value looks wrong: open the full view, filter to it and fix it inline • Someone edited it: the history sits in the same view • A transaction failed: search the trace and read the governor gauges • A big import is coming: check your headroom in Org Limits first • A release went out: review what was deployed, what ran and what broke • An integration misbehaves: replay its messages and put two responses side by side DEMO MODE • A complete fictional company with sample objects, classes, debug output, deployments and events • Every tool can be explored, so you can learn it, record a walkthrough or train a team without touching a real instance • Metadata downloads in demo mode are marked as sample content, and no org is ever contacted LANGUAGES, THEMES AND ACCESSIBILITY • The panel, popup, menus and Settings come in 10 languages: English, Simplified Chinese, Hindi, Spanish, French, Arabic, Bengali, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian and Urdu • Arabic and Urdu are laid out right to left • Switch from the globe icon in the panel, the popup, the tool menu or Settings, and every open screen updates at once • Tool pages stay in English and your own content is shown as it is; translations are machine-generated and new, so tell us if a phrase reads wrong • Light and dark themes • Gauges and heat map tiles carry labels for screen readers, and gauge animations respect your reduced-motion setting KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS • Alt+I: show or hide the panel • Alt+K: open the command palette • Tab: accept a suggestion in the editor • Enter and Shift+Enter: next and previous match in a log • Arrow keys: move through suggestions, lists and menus • Escape: close the search box and tooltips SAFE BY DESIGN • Actions run as your own user, so what your admin allows you is exactly what you can do • Edits, imports, deletions and permission changes always ask for confirmation first • Imports can be rehearsed: a dry run checks each row before anything is written • Long-running statements and downloads can be stopped at any time PRIVACY Your data stays between your browser and your org. There is no server of ours, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and nothing is sent to JYO IT Consulting or to any third party. What it reads • The session cookie of the instance you are working in, used only to send your requests there as you; it is never written to disk • The address of the current tab, to know what you are viewing • The responses your org returns for the tools you use • Files you open in JSON Comparator, read on your computer only What it keeps, on your computer only • Settings, history and saved work (statement text and request details only, never results or credentials), drafts and layout choices • Nothing is synced to other devices, and "Clear all data" in Settings, or uninstalling, deletes it all Where requests go • Only to the org that owns the session; it refuses to send the session anywhere else • No remote code is ever loaded Permissions requested • cookies: read that session cookie • storage: keep your settings and saved work on your computer • scripting: add the panel to tabs that were already open when the extension was installed or updated • Sites: the platform's own domains only (for example *.force.com); no access to any other website, and no tabs, history or web request permissions User data is used only to provide the features described here, never for profiling, advertising or credit decisions, in line with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Privacy policy: https://www.jyoitconsulting.com/products/sfxplorer/privacy REQUIREMENTS • Chrome 116 or newer and an existing login; no extra account is needed • Works with production, sandbox, Developer Edition and scratch orgs • Choose the API version in Settings • Advanced: manual mode connects with an access token and instance URL; the token is kept only until the browser closes QUESTIONS AND QUICK FIXES Can it change anything in my org? Only when you ask, and only what your own user is allowed to edit. Anything that writes asks for confirmation first. Does it work in production? Yes. All of it works there except Security Center, which runs only in orgs confirmed as a sandbox or Developer Edition. Open it from one of those, or choose "Check again" once the page has loaded. Can I try it without an org? Yes. Demo mode lets you use every tool with a fictional company; start it from the toolbar icon and turn it off again in Settings. Does it work in Incognito? Yes, once you allow it: turn on "Allow in Incognito" for the extension in chrome://extensions, then sign in inside the Incognito window. It stays separate from your normal windows. The panel is not showing. Reload the tab once. Tabs opened before an install or update may need it. A connect screen appears. Sign in to your org in this browser, open one of its pages, then reopen the tool. SUPPORT Questions, ideas or a problem? Use the support page and choose "SFXplorer support". Include the version you use, your browser version and the steps that led to the problem. Please never send passwords, session IDs, access tokens or records; we will never ask for them.
