A great app and organizer. No complains!

Have been using Session Buddy for years, but with the latest updates - it's so painstakingly slow if you have many tabs, that having this extension installed makes Chrome dead slow. D-E-A-D S-L-O-W. Sorry, I don't know what you did, but it should be significantly improved for Chromes with many tabs. Until then - goodbye, and thanks for all the fish!

There's lots of things that can slow down your browser and we haven't received any other reports of Session Buddy slowing things down, nor would that make particular sense since SB is relatively dormant. Isolating the cause of browser performance issues can be challenging because of the many compounding factors that could be at play at any one time; it's easy to draw inaccurate conclusions. That said, if you can you post a before-and-after video showing that browser performance degrades significantly after re-enabling a disabled Session Buddy installation, that would be super helpful and sufficient evidence to kick off an investigation on our part. Thanks ahead of time for your help!

Glad Session Buddy is useful for you!

Was going to give it one star but giving it two because it gave me so much functionality BEFORE. One non-negotiable for me was the ability to export to CSV and then clean up my tabs then re-import back from CSV. You can still export to CSV but could not find any way to import back from CSV. Shedding a tear for a former faithful software.

I have been using Session Buddy for 1 year. The program works as designed on Bing. It flaked out on Chrome - Program just went away. Unable to locate a Download for the v3 or v4 Session Buddy. Your site sends me to this site - https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/session-buddy/edacconmaakjimmfgnblocblbcdcpbko?pli=1 No Download ANYWHERE... Any direction would be appreciated since I generally have between 40 and 1500 tabs open at one time and your program is very good for my work load ... Show more

Please reach out to support@sessionbuddy.com so we can help you figure out why an option to download the extension isn't showing up for you in the Chrome Web Store. It's probably an easy fix.

Became a lot less useful after recent releases. Cannot delete "windows" anymore or search by typing.
Hans MeyerDeveloperAug 29, 2024
Please take some time to familiarize yourself with the app. Of course you can still delete windows. Simply select the window (or multiple windows) and hit Delete. If you prefer to click to delete individual windows, check "Enable single-click close and delete" in settings. Search works by filtering the current view as you type. To search everywhere simply hit Enter, as indicated in the dropdown message that appears as you type.

I've been using this extension for almost five years, but yesterday I lost everything—all my session history is gone. Some genius launched an upgrade without any notification, seemingly with the sole purpose of wiping out everything you had. You have been warned, who now watch your screen in front of the desk, don't use it!!!

Session Buddy v4, which was released about 5 months ago, included automatic data migration. However, those upgrading much later need to migrate data manually because of Chrome deprecations that have taken effect in the meantime. Unfortunately there was nothing that could be done to avoid this requirement. To address it, we: 1) Warned users months ahead of time with an in-app notification 2) Provide users upgrading late with a link to transfer instructions immediately after upgrade. See: https://sessionbuddy.com/restore-v3-data/ 3) Facilitate manual transfer of the data by providing a migration utility you can find here: https://sessionbuddy.com/v4-migration/ If you need additional help restoring your data, don't hesitate to reach out to support@sessionbuddy.com!

It's been good extension, but not reliable anymore. Moving to TabXpert, fortunately, it has import from Session Buddy. Also, it has missing here support for tab groups and cloud sync.

Wow your developers riuined this project with that big update. This once was a perfectly functional extension, able to load saved tabs quickly, able to back up and be counted on to write readable data, and a sensibly organised dashboard meant I could find specific pages, avoid opening duplicates, and never worry I would lose my tab history. All off that is gone. The worst of all your updates is hard to choose - suffice it to say, this extension no longer performs its purpose and I am deleti... Show more

We appreciate all feedback but this one admittedly has us a bit confused. We understand that v4 required some adjustment for existing users, but none of the things you've mentioned have been removed. Loading, saving, and searching tabs works the same as before. Handling duplicates remains a core feature and has been improved. The "dashboard" layout now shows History on the right instead of the left but is otherwise the same. Can you provide some details to help us understand why you feel the things you've mentioned are "gone"?
RafaelAug 24, 2024
You should put all development effort into safeguarding your users' data before doing anything else. Opening up the extension to see all data gone is just about the worst experience you can offer users.
Hans MeyerDeveloperAug 25, 2024
Agreed. That's exactly what we're doing. For some background: Spontaneous data clearing is related to a Chrome bug that affects a very small percentage of users. That said, this remains far from ideal and our first priority is to focus our efforts on addressing this critical issue. We're in the process of trying to identify the contributing factors so we can explore the possibility of a workaround or mitigation strategy to compensate for this bug, but this process is somewhat hampered by a rare rate of incidence. In addition to adding logging to help isolate triggering patterns, we're working on integrating local backups which will offer protection against some data loss scenarios. The full-coverage solution, however, is cloud storage. That's another thing we're working on. These storage challenges are unfortunately faced by all extensions, not just Session Buddy. It's why some tab managers have limited their storage to cloud only. We don't necessarily want to limit Session Buddy in such a way because we'd like to continue to offer users the choice of a free version. But of course data reliability is essential regardless of tier, which is why we're relentlessly exploring every option available for identifying and compensating for the current platform deficiencies that have the potential to jeopardize our users' data.
