Overview

One click to bounce the current page between your staging and local dev servers, keeping the path and query string.

Server Flip switches the active tab between your staging environment and your local development server in a single click, preserving the full path, query string and hash. The page you're looking at on staging becomes the same page on localhost, and vice versa. ONE-CLICK SWITCHING Click the toolbar icon and the current tab navigates to the equivalent URL on the other server. For example, /blog/some-post/?preview=true on staging opens as /blog/some-post/?preview=true on your local server. A keyboard shortcut is included (Alt+Shift+F by default, configurable at chrome://extensions/shortcuts). ENVIRONMENT INDICATOR A toolbar badge shows which server the current tab is on: an amber S for staging, a green L for local, and no badge on any other site. You can tell at a glance which environment you're working in without checking the address bar. SIMPLE CONFIGURATION Enter your staging origin and your local origin in the settings page. Full URLs are accepted and trimmed to the origin automatically, and bare hostnames are given a sensible scheme (https for remote hosts, http for localhost). Settings are stored in Chrome sync storage, so they follow your profile across machines, and each team member configures their own – useful when local port numbers differ. PRIVACY Server Flip makes no network requests and collects no data. All URL matching happens locally in the browser. On sites other than your two configured origins, the extension takes no action. The source code is available on GitHub. Designed for web developers who run a local development server alongside a staging environment, where the same paths exist in both places.
