Overview
A calm, beautiful new tab: time-of-day scenes, a gentle daily intention, and instant quick-launch. Fully offline & private.
Open a new tab and breathe. Serene replaces Chrome's empty new tab with a calm, beautiful space that changes with the time of day — and it runs entirely on your device. WHY IT FEELS GOOD • Instant & private — the scene paints the moment you open a tab. No accounts, no cloud, no network requests, nothing tracked. • Time-of-day scenes — soft dawn, day, dusk and night palettes with gentle aurora, drifting light and a starry night. • A distinctive clock with a typeface you choose, previewed live (Elegant, Classic, Thin, Humanist, Script, Mono, Typewriter, Display). • A refined "liquid glass" settings panel that stays out of your way. STAY GENTLY FOCUSED • A warm greeting with your name. • One daily intention — "Today, I will…" — that resets each morning and can be checked off. • A kind line of encouragement, fresh every time (tap for another). GET WHERE YOU'RE GOING, FAST • Quick-launch shortcuts to your own sites, with real favicons — add or remove in a tap. • Keyboard-first launcher — press "/" or just start typing to search the web or leap straight to a site. • Choose your search engine (Google, DuckDuckGo, Bing, Ecosia). 45 AMBIENCES TO SET THE MOOD • Weather: rain (that ripples on the clock), drizzle, sun shower, monsoon and storm with lightning, gold & acid rain — all behind a soft rain-on-glass blur. • Winter: gentle snow that gathers at the bottom and melts, plus blizzard, hail, frost and ash. • Float & glow: fireflies, embers, bubbles, lanterns, dandelion, wisps, plankton, orbs, stardust, summer light. • Falling: cherry blossoms, petals, roses, autumn & maple leaves, feathers, confetti, gold, coins and hearts. • Skies: starfall, cosmos, meteor showers, sparkle, glitter, pixie dust, diamonds. • Atmosphere: mist, haze, smoke — and playful matrix & binary rain. • Every ambience gently follows your cursor like a breeze. MAKE IT YOURS • Bring your own photo as a softly blurred background, with blur and dim to taste. • Pick the scene, ambience, clock font and accent to suit your mood. • Backup and restore everything as a single file. Everything is stored locally with Chrome storage and processed inside the extension. No Google account, no external servers, no analytics — ever.
