SEO Lens is a free on-page SEO audit that opens in Chrome's side panel. Click the toolbar icon on any page and get a full report in well under a second, with no account, no signup and no tracking. NOTHING RUNS UNTIL YOU CLICK SEO Lens injects no code into the pages you browse. It reads a tab only when you open the panel on it. It needs no host permissions to install. Site access is optional and is requested only when you start a check that needs the network. WHAT YOU GET, FREE • Score and issues: a 0–100 on-page score with 21 issue rules and a toolbar badge • Basics: title and meta description with length meters, canonical, meta robots, X-Robots-Tag, lang, viewport, word count (visible text only) and the real HTTP status code • Headings: the full H1–H6 outline as a nested tree in page order, including headings inside shadow DOM, same-origin iframes and role="heading". It flags skipped levels and missing or multiple H1s. Hidden headings are listed separately and not scored. Click a heading to scroll to it. • Broken-link checker: checks links 150 at a time (HEAD, then GET), skips ads and sponsored links, ignores #fragments, and reports 401/403/429/999 responses as "blocked" instead of "broken" • Links: internal, external, nofollow, sponsored and UGC counts (# and javascript: links excluded), a full link list and on-page highlighting • Images: missing vs empty alt shown separately, attribute vs natural dimensions, file size on request, and images inside shadow DOM • Structured data: JSON-LD (including nested types) and microdata, with warnings for invalid JSON and types that aren't real schema.org types • Social: Open Graph and Twitter tags with rendered card previews • hreflang: every alternate, a warning when x-default is missing, and return-link checks • Crawl signals: redirect chain with each hop's status code, robots.txt status and whether it blocks this URL, and sitemap.xml status plus the sitemaps listed in robots.txt • Export: download any report as CSV or JSON • Beta: on Google results pages, title-length pills and a "Copy all URLs" button PRIVATE BY DESIGN • No account, no analytics, no remote logging • Audits run in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to us, and SEO Lens has no server. • Network checks (broken links, file sizes, status, redirects, robots.txt, sitemap) run only after you start them, and they go straight to the site you are checking • Optional permissions can be revoked at any time. The on-page audit still works without them. WHAT SEO LENS DOESN'T DO (YET) SEO Lens is an on-page auditor. It does not provide Domain Authority, backlink data or keyword volume and difficulty. Those require a paid link or keyword index. If you need them, use SEO Lens alongside a tool that has one. Works on regular http(s) pages. Chrome doesn't allow extensions to run on chrome:// pages, the Chrome Web Store or built-in PDF viewers, and SEO Lens shows a clear message there.
