Sendby

Sendby encrypted private-network transfers in a toolbar panel. Active transfers continue when the panel closes.

Sendby brings file transfers into a compact Chrome toolbar panel, without opening another window or tab. Content travels directly over verified private-network, encrypted WebRTC connections. Sendby connection servers do not relay file or text bodies. Device discovery still requires an internet connection. KEY FEATURES • Transfers from your toolbar: click the extension icon to open the Receive and Send panel. • Keep your current session running: active transfers, queued files and temporary received content stay in the background when you close the panel. Reopen it to see them again. • Send only when you choose: select files, then select a verified device that is ready to receive. Opening the panel or reconnecting never automatically sends your files. • Receive files and text cards: download files explicitly. Text is copied only when you click Copy; it is not automatically saved as a file or written to your clipboard. • Stay in control: pause new incoming transfers, pause or cancel sending, or explicitly end the background session. Clearing temporary content does not delete files you have already saved to disk. GETTING STARTED Open a compatible Sendby receiver on your trusted private network, or open https://sendby.space on another computer. Check the recipient's name before sending. The iPhone app currently sends supported content to receivers such as this extension; file and text sending on iPhone follows its in-app Free/Pro rules. Receiving files on iPhone is not currently supported. LIMITS AND REQUIREMENTS • Queue up to 100 outgoing files. The temporary receiving cache holds up to 128 MiB in total; download files to keep them. • Each received text card supports up to 1 MiB of UTF-8 text. • Closing the panel is not the same as quitting Chrome. Browser exit, disabling or reloading the extension, sleep, network failures or process termination can still end a session or interrupt a transfer. Temporary content is not a backup and is not guaranteed to survive a restart. • The current panel does not offer direct folder saving, batch ZIP downloads, automatic transfer resumption or automatic retries of file delivery. • Your network must allow communication between devices. Guest networks, isolation, VPNs or firewalls may prevent discovery or direct connections. A failed connection does not fall back to a file relay. PRIVACY AND PERMISSIONS The extension does not scan other web pages or read your clipboard in the background. It uses the offscreen permission for background WebRTC and temporary content, plus permission for the official Sendby site to connect to discovery services.
