Select & Translate turns English text on any web page into natural Simplified Chinese, right where you are reading. HOW IT WORKS 1. Select a word, phrase, or paragraph. 2. Right-click and choose "Translate selection", or press Alt+T. 3. A small card appears next to your selection and the translation streams in. FEATURES • Context-aware word lookup: for a single word or short phrase, the surrounding sentence is used to choose the meaning that fits, with part of speech and one alternative meaning. • Fluent sentence and paragraph translation: reads naturally instead of word by word, and keeps the original paragraph structure. • Proper nouns, technical terms and product names stay in English, with the Chinese in parentheses when helpful. • Results appear as they are generated. Copy with one click, close with Esc, and the card follows your light or dark theme. • Only runs when you ask it to. Nothing is translated automatically. PRIVACY When you trigger a translation, the text you selected (up to 4,000 characters) and, for single words, about 200 characters of surrounding text are sent to the developer's translation service and processed by an AI model to produce the result. The extension reads nothing else on the page, and the text is not used for advertising or sold to anyone. The service keeps a hashed daily request counter to enforce usage limits. USAGE LIMITS To keep the service sustainable, each user has a daily request limit. If you reach it, the card will say so and you can try again the next day.
