Select Translate helps you stay on the page and work on the exact line you care about. Highlight a word, sentence, or paragraph and translate it without copy/paste or switching tabs. When a page is readable but confusing, highlight the difficult line and get a plain-language explanation in the same tab. When a PDF is scanned or image-based and normal text selection does not work, use Assist mode to draw a region around the exact passage you want help with. Select Translate is built for focused reading and study workflows, not full-page translation. What you can do: - Translate selected text directly in Chrome. - Explain difficult lines while you read. - Use Assist mode for scanned PDFs, screenshots, and image-based documents. - Create flashcards from highlights and review them later in Study Hub. - Save notes and highlights tied to what you were reading. How it stays focused: - You choose the exact text or image region to process. - Results stay attached to the page instead of sending you to another tool. - Assist mode captures only the region you draw, not the whole page. Important details: - Standard selected-text translation works without an account. - Assist mode, explanations, flashcards, and other AI study tools require sign-in. - The extension does not automatically translate full pages. - The extension does not scan the background or collect browsing history.
