SecureHive Shadow AI helps organizations discover and govern employee use of artificial intelligence services. The extension detects visits to known and organization-defined AI tools and reports configured detection metadata to the organization’s SecureHive AI Governance environment. Administrators can centrally apply allow, monitor, warn, block, and data-loss-prevention policies using signed policy bundles. Key capabilities: • Detect known and organization-defined AI tools. • Report AI-tool usage to the organization’s SecureHive dashboard. • Apply centrally managed allow, monitor, warn, and block policies. • Detect sensitive information in supported AI prompt fields before submission. • Detect patterns such as Social Security numbers, payment-card numbers, API keys, access tokens, email addresses, phone numbers, and IP addresses. • Remove detected sensitive information before sending when permitted by policy. • Prevent submission when the organization’s DLP policy requires blocking. • Show recent detections, enrollment status, policy status, and synchronization status. • Support enterprise-managed configuration and signed policy bundles. DATA HANDLING The configured collection level determines which AI-tool detection metadata is recorded: • Minimal: tool name, vendor, category, and timestamp. • Standard: also includes the detected domain and page title. • Detailed: also includes the full URL and referrer. The extension may associate detections with an organization-managed user identity and generated device identifier. For Data Loss Prevention, text entered into supported AI prompt fields—and, in managed deployments, relevant outgoing AI requests—may be examined locally in the browser. Raw prompts, request bodies, and matched sensitive values are not stored or transmitted to SecureHive. Only DLP finding metadata may be reported, including the detected category, severity, AI-tool host, enforcement outcome, timestamp, and device identifier. For example, SecureHive may record that a payment-card pattern was blocked, but it does not record the card number or surrounding prompt. Data is transmitted over HTTPS only to the SecureHive API endpoint configured by the organization. SecureHive does not sell extension data or use it for advertising, creditworthiness, or lending. SecureHive Shadow AI is intended for organizations using the SecureHive AI Governance platform. Reporting and centrally managed policies require configuration supplied by a SecureHive administrator.
