ScreenGif records a region of your browser tab as an animated GIF and saves it directly to your Downloads folder. No accounts, no uploads, no cloud — everything stays on your device. Great for sharing UI interactions: drop a recording into a ticket, chat, or pull request and it plays inline without a video player. How to use: Click the ScreenGif icon in the toolbar or press Command+Shift+6 on Mac (Ctrl+Shift+6 on Windows). Choose "Record Tab" to capture the current tab instantly, or "Full Screen / Window" to choose a source. Drag on the page to select the region you want to capture. Click Stop when you are done. The file saves to your Downloads folder automatically. Features: - Keyboard shortcut launches recording with no extra clicks - Drag-to-select any region of the page while recording - 10 frames per second, 10 second maximum per recording - Typical output is 1 to 3 MB for a cropped UI region - Works on any standard website - Live region preview with recording indicator and timer Privacy: Your screen content never leaves your machine. There is no backend, no telemetry, and no analytics. Source code is available on the homepage.
