ScreenExtract
Overview
Select a visible region in the current tab and copy its text using local OCR.
ScreenExtract turns text trapped in images, screenshots, videos, scanned PDFs, and tables into editable content. Press Alt+X, drag around any visible region in the current browser tab, and ScreenExtract recognizes the content locally inside Chrome. Review the extracted result, make corrections if needed, and copy it instantly. Use ScreenExtract to: • Copy text from images and screenshots • Extract text from YouTube videos and presentation slides • Read text from scanned PDFs and unselectable websites • Detect tables and preview structured rows and columns • Copy or download detected tables as CSV • Save recent captures locally • Capture multiple regions in one session • Monitor changing content using Live Capture Private by design: ScreenExtract requires no account, login, API key, subscription, or backend service. Screenshots and recognized content are not uploaded. The packaged OCR engine processes captures locally in your browser, and recent capture history stays in Chrome’s local extension storage until you clear it. ScreenExtract currently supports English OCR. Accuracy can vary depending on image resolution, contrast, font, and selection boundaries.
