Screen to GIF
Overview
Record your screen, window, or tab and convert it to a high-quality GIF — entirely offline.
Screen to GIF captures your screen, a window, or a browser tab and turns the recording into an optimized animated GIF — all on your device. HOW IT WORKS 1. Choose FPS, resolution scale, and max duration 2. Click Start Recording and pick what to share in Chrome’s picker 3. Stop when you’re done (or let the duration cap finish for you) 4. Wait while ffmpeg.wasm builds a two-pass color palette and encodes your GIF 5. Preview, check the file size, and download FEATURES • Record screen, window, or tab via Chrome’s native share dialog • FPS options: 5 / 10 / 15 / 24 • Resolution: Original, 720p, or 480p • Max duration control with a safety cap (keeps files manageable) • Live recording timer • High-quality GIF encoding (palettegen + paletteuse) • Local preview + estimated / actual file size • Download GIF or record again PRIVACY FIRST • No uploads — conversion never leaves your computer • No account required • No host permissions — we don’t read the websites you browse • Processing uses MediaRecorder + ffmpeg.wasm inside the extension
