A screen recorder that has no way to upload your recordings. Most capture tools ask you to trust a privacy policy. Screen Awesome asks you to check the permissions instead. Open chrome://extensions, find its "Site access" line, and you will see it has none — no host permissions at all. There is no account, no sync, no telemetry and no server to send anything to. Your recordings are written straight to your own browser's storage and go nowhere else, because there is nowhere else for them to go. Everything unlocked, nothing upsold. The tools other capture extensions put behind a subscription are all here, free: arrows, blur and redaction, step counters, speech bubbles, text with any system font, emoji stamps, highlighter, crop, and image insertion. Annotations stay editable — move, restyle, re-edit or undo any of them, at any point, because they are kept as vectors rather than painted onto your screenshot. Recording that produces a file you can actually use. Records to MP4 where Chrome supports it, so your video drops straight into Slack, Docs or a video editor with no conversion step. Record a tab, a window, your whole screen, or just your camera. Add your microphone, the tab's own audio, and a circular webcam bubble composited into the video — movable between corners while you record. Pause and resume, set a countdown, cap the length, and draw on the page mid-recording to point something out. Auto-zoom to your clicks. While recording a tab, Screen Awesome samples where you click. The studio then replays your recording through a camera that glides in on each click and pans between them — the polish that normally means editing a screencast by hand. Preview it live, switch it off, or bake it into the exported file. Trim the clip and export as MP4, WebM or GIF. Screenshots, all the awkward cases included. Capture the visible area, drag out a region, or scroll-and-stitch a full page. Grab anything outside the browser with a desktop capture, or set a timer to catch a menu that closes when it loses focus. Optionally copy each screenshot to your clipboard and save a copy to Downloads the moment it is taken. Your library, on your machine. Everything you capture is listed in one place, searchable and sortable, with rename, bulk download and a 30-day trash. A storage panel shows exactly what is on disk and reclaims it on request. Delete everything with one button, and it is genuinely gone.
