A markdown scratchpad one click away on the toolbar. No account, no network, data stays on your machine.

A markdown scratchpad one click away on the toolbar, for prompts, snippets, meeting notes and anything you would otherwise paste into an empty tab. Click the icon (or press Alt+Shift+S; Option+Shift+S on a Mac) to return to the draft you left, caret in place. There is no save button: every keystroke is kept, even if the tab closes right away. WRITE AND PREVIEW • Syntax highlighting with markdown markers left visible • Write, split or read: source alone, preview beside it, or the rendered page alone • Focus mode: the text alone, at a width you drag to set • GitHub-flavoured markdown, code highlighting, LaTeX (KaTeX), mermaid diagrams and :emoji: • Task boxes that tick from the preview; lists that continue as you type • Find and replace across the whole draft • Status bar with line and column, word count and a rough token count • Optional line numbers and a serif reading typeface • Embedded HTML sanitized with GitHub's rules ORGANISE • Drafts titled by their first line and grouped by day • Full-text search that ignores case and accents, keyboard-driven • Copy a draft, export it as .md, or drop a .md or .txt file to open it • Undo a delete for a few seconds • Two open tabs stay in sync BACK UP AND RESTORE • Back up every draft to one .json file and restore it with a preview of the changes • Export all drafts as .md files in a .zip, or open a .zip of notes PRIVATE BY DESIGN • No account, cloud sync, analytics or telemetry • No network requests: the content security policy blocks them, remote images included • Drafts stay in your Chrome profile • One permission: storage SHORTCUTS Alt+Shift+S (Option+Shift+S on a Mac) opens Scratchpad from anywhere in Chrome; change it at chrome://extensions/shortcuts.
