Overview
Tells you whether a job posting is real before you spend an evening tailoring your CV for it.
Half the job postings you read are not really hiring. Some are collecting CVs for a pipeline. Some were filled weeks ago and never taken down. Some are re-listed every few weeks so they look new. You cannot tell by reading them, because they are written to look identical to the real ones. Score This Job reads the posting you are looking at and scores it on fourteen signals, grouped so you can see what drove the number. WHAT IT ACTUALLY KNOWS Most of what any tool can tell you is inference: does this posting resemble a real one? Vague scope, no salary, no named contact, language that never expires. Some of it is not inference. If a posting has been listed for four months, or has been re-published six times without a word changing, that is not a resemblance — it is a record of what the employer did. Those signals are marked OBSERVED, and the extension will not present the two as if they were the same thing. That record exists because installs report the postings they open. The tenth person to check a listing benefits from the nine who checked it before them. WHAT IT NEVER STORES There is no record of who read which job. Reports carry an identifier for the install, never your account, so nothing stored can join a person to a listing — and neither can anyone who takes the database. One switch turns reporting off, and deletes that identifier with it. It also counts, per site, whether it could read a job page — the site's name and the extension's version, nothing else — so we notice when a job site changes its layout. The same switch turns that off. Your CV is encrypted at rest and is never shared with an employer, a recruiter, or a model provider. WHEN IT CANNOT READ A PAGE It says so. A site changes its layout eventually, and an extension that carried on scoring whatever text it found would hand you a confident number about a navigation menu. It would rather tell you it could not read the page. WHERE IT WORKS It reads job pages on LinkedIn and on the six applicant-tracking systems most US employers post through, with no action from you. On any other careers page, click the Score This Job icon: if the page publishes standard job data, as most employer career sites do for Google, it is read too. Anywhere else, paste the text in. If clicking the icon on every new tab gets tiring, the panel offers — on that failure, and nowhere else — to let you grant page access once instead. It is optional, it is never asked for at install, and saying no leaves everything working as it was. What is done with a posting once it has been read does not change either way: one switch in the panel governs that, and it is the same switch it always was. FREE AND PAID Whether a job is real is free, and stays free. Ten scores a month covers most people. Comparing a posting against your CV in detail — which requirements you miss — is the paid tier.
