Scam Shield
Overview
Warns when a page shows patterns common in romance, crypto, and investment scams.
Scam Shield helps you slow down when a webpage contains language commonly associated with online scams, including pig butchering, crypto investment fraud, unusual payment requests, impersonation, fake account warnings, and pressure to move conversations to private messaging apps. The extension scans visible page text locally in your browser and shows a clear risk score, warning reasons, trusted-site controls, sensitivity settings, and practical scam-avoidance tips. Key features: - Local scam-pattern scanning for visible webpage text. - In-page warnings when risk signals stack up. - Toolbar score badge for risky pages. - Simple popup with risk level, warning reasons, and trusted-site controls. - Sensitivity settings: Relaxed, Balanced, and Strict. - Educational "How to avoid scams" tips when no risk score is present. - No remote scam-scoring service and no sale of user data. Scam Shield is a safety-assist tool, not a guarantee. It cannot detect every scam and may occasionally flag legitimate pages. Always verify before sending money, crypto, login details, identity documents, or private information.
