Keep a searchable local library of the posts you saved, and download the ones you want to keep. Independent third-party extension. Not affiliated with, authorized by, endorsed by, or sponsored by Instagram or Meta. HOW IT WORKS Open your saved posts on instagram.com, signed in as you normally are. Press Start capture. The extension scrolls the page so more of your saved posts load, and records what it sees into a library on your computer. Press Stop when you have enough. Capture is off until you press Start. Opening instagram.com does not start it, and reloading the page turns it off again. The first time you press Start, a dialog tells you exactly what gets recorded and waits for you to accept. TWO STEPS, AND THE DIFFERENCE MATTERS CAPTURE records links and details — media URLs, post links, usernames, captions, dates, like counts, hashtags, album structure. Stored locally. Not the media files themselves. DOWNLOAD saves actual files, when you ask for them. Only what you download this way is yours to keep offline. Media links expire, and a deleted post stops resolving — so a captured library is a searchable index, not a permanent copy of the media. Download what you want to keep. WHAT YOU GET Search that works Search by caption text, @account or #hashtag, and mix them — "@demo_photos linen #summer" narrows to items matching all three. Filters as you type. Albums stay together Every slide of a multi-image post is kept in order. Click the album badge on a card to expand the whole set inline, without leaving the grid. Details kept with every item Author, caption, date, like count and hashtags travel with each item, which is what makes the search useful. Videos and reels Captured with the rest, with inline playback and a slideshow at 2, 3 or 5 seconds. Note: video files are usually served without the headers a browser needs to save them directly, so Download opens the video in a tab for you to save yourself. Downloads and exports Single images, a ZIP of one album, or your whole library zipped and grouped by author. Export as JSON and import it back, so your library moves between browsers. Export as CSV for a spreadsheet. A badge that means something The toolbar badge counts what is new since you last opened the library, not a running total. No duplicates Media links carry expiring signatures, so the same post looks different every time it reloads. Links are normalised before comparison, so one post is recorded once. PRIVACY Your library is stored on your own computer, in Chrome's local extension storage. It is not uploaded anywhere. No analytics. No tracking. No advertising. No developer server. No account. The extension never asks for, reads or stores your password, cookies, session tokens or two-factor codes. There is no login form anywhere in it. It reads the page you are already looking at, using the session you are already signed into. One kind of outbound request exists: when the library shows you a preview, or when you download, your browser fetches that media from Instagram/Meta CDN addresses. That traffic goes to Instagram, not to the developer. Three things are requested and nothing else: the "storage" permission, the "unlimitedStorage" permission, and access to instagram.com. Every URL is re-checked against a fixed allowlist of Instagram/Meta addresses before it is shown, fetched, opened, copied or exported — including anything restored from a JSON import. The extension's own pages run under a Content Security Policy and load no remote code. Delete everything at any time with "Clear all data". If you follow a private account, posts you saved from it are visible to you, so the extension can process them — it gains you no access you did not already have. The content belongs to whoever posted it. Saving a copy for yourself is not the same as owning it, and what you do with it afterwards is your responsibility.
