Save Source Image

Save the image declared in img src instead of a browser-selected WebP or AVIF.

Save Source Image adds one focused command to Chrome: right-click an image and choose “Save source image.” Some websites let Chrome display an optimized WebP or AVIF selected through picture or srcset even though the image element declares a different source, often JPG or PNG. When that declared source is available, the extension asks Chrome to download it directly without converting or re-encoding the image. Key features: • One simple right-click action • Prefers the source URL declared by the page • Keeps clean filenames and accurate file extensions • Falls back to the browser-rendered image when no usable declared source is available • No accounts, advertising, analytics, or developer-operated backend Important limitation: The extension cannot recover an image format the page does not expose. If the page only provides WebP or AVIF, or the declared source URL serves one of those formats, that is what Chrome may save. Privacy: Image data is not uploaded to the developer. The extension runs when you choose its context-menu command and uses Chrome’s download system to save the selected source.
