Save HTML as Markdown
Overview
A browser extension to save HTML pages to markdown.
Save any webpage as a clean Markdown file. Click the toolbar icon, preview the page info, and hit Save. You get a .md file with the article content converted to Markdown and metadata captured in YAML frontmatter. ➤ How it works 1. Click the extension icon on any webpage 2. See a preview with the page title, author, and word count 3. Optionally enable image embedding 4. Click "Save as Markdown" — done ➤ Features • Smart content extraction — strips navigation, ads, and sidebars using Defuddle to capture only the main article content • YAML frontmatter — title, author, publish date, description, source URL, site name, and saved timestamp • GitHub Flavored Markdown — tables, strikethrough, and task lists • Image embedding — optionally embed images as base64 data URLs for fully offline Markdown files • Clean Markdown output — ATX headings, fenced code blocks, bullet lists, inline links ➤ Output format Files are saved as "{page title}.md" with frontmatter: title: Article Title author: Jane Doe published: 2026-01-15 description: A short summary source: https://example.com/article site: example.com saved: 2026-02-20T01:05:29.000Z ➤ Privacy All processing happens locally in your browser. No data is collected, stored, or sent to any server. No analytics, no tracking, no account required.
