Overview

Hides recommendations by language, category and channel, and teaches the YouTube algorithm what you do not want.

Sanitizer for YouTube clears your recommendations of what you don't want to see, and tells YouTube what you are not interested in. WHAT IT DOES • Languages. Blocks Russian-language videos and, if you choose, any of more than twenty other languages. The language is detected from the title, the description and other videos of the same channel. • Music. Artist channels, "Topic" channels, VEVO, official music videos and lyric videos. • Shorts and mixes. Single Shorts, whole Shorts shelves and automatic "Mix" playlists. • Channels and keywords. Your own lists of channels and words that should not appear in recommendations. • Allowed channels and videos. No rule touches what you have allowed. FOUR DISPLAY MODES • Shadow mode: the video stays in place, in black and white, with a badge that says why. Start here to see what your rules catch. • Dim: the video is faded but readable. • Collapse: a tile with the title and channel takes the video's place and can be expanded. • Remove: the video disappears from the page. Search results can have a mode of their own. CONTROL IT RIGHT ON YOUTUBE Every filtered video carries a badge with the reason and a few buttons. The video menu gets Sanitizer items: allow or block the channel, block the detected language, block a word from the title. SIGNALS TO YOUTUBE, IF YOU WANT THEM The extension can click "Not interested" or "Don't recommend channel" for you on videos matched by your rules, so that over time YouTube stops suggesting them. This is off until you turn it on. Signals are sent one at a time with pauses and have a daily limit. The extension never files reports against videos. STATISTICS AND JOURNAL The popup shows how many videos were filtered today and by which rules. The options page has a chart for the week and a searchable journal where any channel or video can be allowed with one click. Settings and statistics can be exported to a file and imported back. PRIVACY The extension collects nothing and sends nothing to the developer or to third parties. It has no server. Settings, statistics and the journal are stored only in your browser. The subscriptions feed, history, playlists and channel pages are never filtered. The interface is available in English and Ukrainian. Sanitizer for YouTube is an independent extension. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by YouTube or Google. YouTube is a trademark of Google LLC.
