Overview
A mindful site blocker that replaces distractions with reflection prompts and a calm pause screen. Reclaim your focus.
Most site blockers work like a padlock. You set it, it locks, done. The problem is that a padlock treats every visit the same — the late-night doom scroll and the urgent work lookup get identical treatment. That bluntness is why most people disable blockers within a week. Sanctuary works differently. When you navigate to a blocked site, you don't get an error page. You get a pause. The screen clears. A soft animation starts — a breathing orb, slow and rhythmic. A single question appears: "What are you seeking in this moment?" or "Where is your attention needed most?" After 15 seconds, you can close the tab or choose to continue. If you continue, the site stays accessible for a window you control — 15 minutes by default — then blocks itself again automatically. That 15 seconds is the whole product. Long enough to interrupt the autopilot, short enough that you never feel imprisoned. Most of the time, people close the tab. SCHEDULING THAT FITS YOUR LIFE Every site on your block list gets its own schedule. Block Twitter on weekdays from 9am to 6pm, leave it open on weekends. Block YouTube during deep work hours without touching your evenings. You pick the days, the start time, the end time — per site, independently. New sites inherit a default schedule you set once. Change the default and it propagates everywhere. YOUR FOCUS DASHBOARD The options page tracks your week. Total pauses, minutes reclaimed, which site came up most. There's a cairn — a stack of stones that grows as your count rises. Each pause buys you roughly 5 minutes back. No inflated claims. QUICK ADD PRESETS One click for X (Twitter), Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube. Each gets your default schedule on the way in. IMPORT AND EXPORT Your entire block list exports as a JSON file. Import it on another machine, restore it after a reinstall, share a starting config with a friend. The format is a plain array of domains and schedules — readable without a decoder. PRIVACY Sanctuary stores your block list in Chrome's sync storage, which means it follows you across your Chrome devices through your own Google account. We never see it. Focus statistics — how many times you paused reddit.com today — stay in local storage on your device and go nowhere. No analytics. No trackers. No third-party scripts of any kind. FREE AND OPEN SOURCE No paid tier. Every feature ships to every user. If Sanctuary earns a regular place in your day, there's a donation link on the pause screen. That's how this stays independent and ad-free.
