Use your own proxy servers to route browser traffic
🌐 SafeBrowse — Proxy Manager for Chrome (Bring Your Own Proxy) SafeBrowse lets you route your browser's internet traffic through your own proxy servers with a single click. Unlike other proxy or VPN extensions that require you to sign up for a service, SafeBrowse puts you in full control — you supply the proxies, we handle the rest. --- 🔍 WHAT IT DOES SafeBrowse acts as a proxy manager directly inside Chrome. You add your own proxy servers (HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS4, or SOCKS5) to the extension, and with one click, all your browser traffic is routed through them. When you disconnect, your browser returns to its normal direct connection. Every time you connect, SafeBrowse picks a proxy from your list at random and verifies the connection by confirming your exit IP address. If the selected proxy is unreachable, it automatically tries the next one in your pool — so you always connect through a working proxy without any manual intervention. --- 🎯 WHO IS IT FOR 🏢 Businesses and teams that already have their own proxy infrastructure and want a simple, reliable way for employees to route browser traffic through corporate proxies 💻 Developers and testers who need to switch between different proxy endpoints quickly for geo-testing, API access, or network debugging 🔒 Privacy-conscious users who operate their own proxy servers and want browser-level control without a third-party service ⚡ Power users who manage multiple proxy credentials and want them all available in one place with instant switching --- ⭐ KEY FEATURES ✔ One-Click Connect A single click connects you through a verified proxy and shows your real exit IP address and location. ✔ Bring Your Own Proxies Add any number of HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS4, or SOCKS5 proxies. No subscriptions, no accounts, no third-party servers. ✔ Automatic Failover If a proxy in your list is down, SafeBrowse automatically tries the next one until it finds a working connection — no manual retry needed. ✔ Exit IP Verification After connecting, SafeBrowse confirms your actual exit IP address and location so you always know exactly where your traffic appears to come from. ✔ Split Tunneling Choose which domains go through the proxy and which connect directly. Use Exclude mode to bypass specific sites (e.g. your local intranet), or Include mode to only proxy specific destinations. ✔ Multiple Proxy Support with Scrollable List Add as many proxies as you need. The proxy list scrolls cleanly and shows scheme, host, and port at a glance. ✔ Import from File On Windows, import an entire proxy list from a .txt file in one click. Each line should follow the format: scheme://username:password@host:port — or simply host:port for proxies without credentials. ✔ Paste Import (Linux) On Linux, paste your proxy list directly from the clipboard — no file picker needed, so the extension popup stays open throughout the process. ✔ Download Template Not sure about the format? Download a pre-filled template file directly from the extension to use as a starting point for your proxy list. ✔ Auto-Connect on Startup Optionally connect automatically every time you launch Chrome, so you are always protected without having to open the extension. ✔ WebRTC Leak Protection Disables non-proxied UDP connections while the proxy is active, preventing your real IP address from being exposed through WebRTC. ✔ Light & Dark Mode Icons The toolbar icon adapts to Chrome's theme — dark lines on a light toolbar, light lines on a dark toolbar — and switches between connected and disconnected states so you always know your connection status at a glance. ✔ Works on Windows and Linux Tested on both Windows and Linux versions of Chrome, with platform-specific import methods for the best experience on each. --- ⚙️ HOW IT WORKS 1️⃣ Open the extension and go to Settings 2️⃣ Add your proxy servers (manually or by importing a file / pasting a list) 3️⃣ Click the power button to connect 4️⃣ SafeBrowse selects a proxy at random, sets it as your browser proxy, and verifies the connection 5️⃣ Your exit IP and location are displayed so you can confirm the proxy is working 6️⃣ Click again to disconnect and restore your normal browsing connection --- 📋 PROXY FORMAT Proxies can be added manually through the form or imported in bulk. The supported text file format is: scheme://username:password@host:port Examples: http://myuser:mypassword@192.168.1.100:8080 socks5://proxyuser:secret@10.0.0.50:1080 http://203.0.113.10:3128 Lines without a scheme default to HTTP. Lines without credentials are treated as open proxies. Comments starting with # are ignored. --- 🛡️ PERMISSIONS EXPLAINED 🌐 Proxy: Required to set and clear Chrome's proxy settings 💾 Storage: Saves your proxy list and preferences 🔒 Privacy: Used to disable WebRTC leaks while connected 🗂️ Tabs: Displays the current tab's hostname in the popup 🔑 webRequest / webRequestAuthProvider: Automatically supplies proxy credentials when the proxy server requests authentication 📋 clipboardRead: Used only on Linux when you click the Paste button to import a proxy list from your clipboard --- 🔐 PRIVACY SafeBrowse does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data. Your proxy credentials are saved locally in your browser and never sent to any external server operated by us. The only external requests made by the extension are to ipinfo.io (to verify your exit IP after connecting) and api.ipify.org (to display your real IP when disconnected) — both of which go through your configured proxy when active. --- Install SafeBrowse if you already have proxy servers and want a clean, reliable way to use them directly in Chrome — no accounts, no subscriptions, just your proxies working the way you want.
