Back up Slack, Teams and Gmail from your signed-in tabs as Markdown and HTML: a zip, or a server of your own kept up to date.

SaaSBak gets your Slack, Microsoft Teams and Gmail (and Outlook 365… soon!) out of the cloud and onto your computer as plain Markdown and HTML files. Or it tries very hard to. You already have all of this data. It's yours. Keeping a copy of it shouldn't take an admin, an API key and an afternoon, and with SaaSBak it takes a button, in the tab you're already signed in to. HOW IT WORKS • Open Slack, Teams or Gmail in Chrome, signed in as usual. • Click the SaaSBak button. A small panel opens right there in the tab, with whatever's on screen already picked: the channel or chat you're in, the email you're reading, the rows you ticked, your search, or the label. • Pick the dates (or "All", in Gmail), and click Download zip. • That's it. We thought about adding more steps to look busy. WHAT YOU GET • Slack and Teams: a Markdown and/or HTML file per day, thread replies under the messages they answer, and the files and images people posted, named by date, time and who posted them. • Gmail: a label, a search, one conversation or a handful of ticked ones, as a folder per conversation with its Markdown and/or HTML, the attachments, and an index. • A README on top saying what's where, and JSON for scripts. • Several conversations at once come as one zip, a folder each. • It's all laid out so an AI agent can find its way around it. It's also laid out so a person can, which turned out to be harder. NO KEYS, NO ADMINS, NO BOTS • No API keys, no Slack app to install, no Teams app registration, no Google Cloud project, no OAuth consent screen, no ticket to IT. • SaaSBak uses the session the tab already has, and it only reads. It doesn't post, edit or delete anything, and in Gmail nothing gets marked read. • If you can see it in the tab, SaaSBak can usually save it. If you can't, neither can we. A SERVER OF YOUR OWN (OPTIONAL) Zips in Downloads work fine. If you'd rather not end up with forty of them, you can run a SaaSBak server of your own and connect it. Each pull then goes there instead, only what changed since last time is sent, and you get a site to read and search everything on, plus plain folders an agent can read. When you're signed in to your server in another tab, SaaSBak offers to connect it. The server never contacts Slack, Microsoft or Google; your browser does that, as always. PRIVACY, BRIEFLY • Everything happens in your browser. Your messages and mail go to your Downloads folder, or to a server you connected yourself, and nowhere else. • We don't run a server, we don't have analytics, and we don't have your data. We'd like to keep it that way. HONEST LIMITATIONS • SaaSBak reads these apps the way their own web pages do, not through an official public API. When Slack, Microsoft or Google change something on their side, SaaSBak can break until we catch up. We do catch up. Eventually. • Web versions only: Slack at app.slack.com, Teams on the web, and Gmail at mail.google.com. Not the desktop apps. • Big exports take a while, because SaaSBak asks politely instead of hammering anybody's servers. • Teams files that live in SharePoint come along when your browser can open them there; otherwise you get a link. • In Teams, "Copy details for a bug report" copies counts only (no names, no messages) for you to paste wherever you report the problem. It sends nothing anywhere. • Outlook 365… soon! We say that with a confidence we haven't earned. SaaSBak isn't affiliated with, or endorsed by, Slack, Microsoft or Google.
