Overview

Get sources for claims on social media, measured by quality.

-- THE EXTENSION WILL NOT WORK ON ALREADY-OPEN TABS -- TO USE THE EXTENSION, CLICK THE POPUP WHEN ON A POST ON REDDIT, TWITTER, OR INSTAGRAM, THE EXTENSION CURRENTLY DOES NOT WORK ELSEWHERE. Have you ever seen a post on social media that said something that seemed slightly off? Maybe a post that was clearly wrong, but you couldn't disprove it? Or maybe you were just curious about a given claim and wanted to know more, but didn't want to go out of your way to do research? Well, now with Roundabout, you can. -- WHY ROUNDABOUT? -- - Identify claims in seconds, and get online results related to them - Results are scored instantly by credibility, similarity, and recency - Easily switch between multiple claims in one post - Detect misinformation and broaden your own knowledge by exploring the results of these claims! Improve your social media experience with Roundabout today! -- TECHNICAL DETAILS -- The Roundabout extension identifies posts on social media that are claims using an in-house Exactitude metric (in-browser NLP using compromise). Exactitude measures the presence of a) quantifications b) specific dates c) specific locations d) defined terms e) specific sources f) falsifiability g) personal relativity (a penalty) A score of 6/12 (with each non-penalty metric using a score of 0, 1, or 2) indicates a claim. The extension uses the Brave search API for browsing (i.e. to get search results for detected claims); heavy use of this extension may result in the extension not getting results due to expired trial usage. Credibility is calculated using results from AdFontes and MediaBiasFactCheck charts; these may not cover all sources. Similarity is calculated using sentence transformation (all-MiniLM-l6-v2) and cosine similarity. Recency is calculated by taking the date of the search result and the post date and splitting the difference.
