Rotty is a free Chrome extension that hides low-effort posts and replies on Reddit, X and LinkedIn. AI slop, generic filler, engagement bait, spam bots, scams and drive-by self-promotion fold into one quiet line that says why. Good posts stay, and anything hidden is a click away. A guard dog for your feed. Sit. Stay. Slop, go. WHAT ROTTY HIDES - Generic filler: "Great question! This really resonates." and replies that could sit under any post - Engagement bait: "Agree?", "Comment YES if...", "Drop your project below." - Self-promotion: product plugs, referral codes, "link in bio", newsletter funnels and sales pitches under someone else's question - Recycled formula posts: "Here are 7 lessons I learned..." listicles, thread bait and broetry - Off-topic junk and scams: crypto presales, fake giveaways, pay-to-join "jobs" and bot replies - Reaction replies and pile-on "Congrats!" comments on X and LinkedIn, recognized right on your device Each kind has its own switch, and you can fine-tune the specific types for each site. WHAT IT LEAVES ALONE Rotty judges substance, not who wrote something or which side they're on. It never claims to detect whether a person or a machine wrote a post: empty filler gets hidden either way, and a useful answer stays either way. - Sincere questions, including beginner ones - Short, specific answers and first-hand tips - Casual writing, typos, slang and non-native English - Jokes that land, and opinions of any stance - Job posts, hiring and career news - Moderators, pinned posts and ads (it doesn't touch ads, so it works fine next to your ad blocker) HOW IT WORKS 1. Install it and pick how posts are checked (see below). 2. Browse as usual. It checks posts a few screens ahead of where you're scrolling, so the junk is folded away before you get there. 3. Every hidden post leaves a single line in the site's own style, such as "Hidden: engagement bait - Show". One click reads it. 4. Got one wrong? Mark it "Not slop" and it stays visible. Missed one? Hide it yourself, with Undo if you change your mind. The toolbar popup shows how many posts were hidden on the page you're on, the last few with their reasons, and how many were hidden this week. YOUR MODEL, YOUR CALL A language model reads each post. You choose which one: - Your ChatGPT plan: sign in once. Checks count toward your Plus or Pro plan's included usage. No API key. - A free Groq key: free, no card, fast. Paste it once. - Rotty Local: a small model that runs inside your browser. Nothing leaves your computer, and there's no account or key. It only hides what it's very sure about. - Your own API key from OpenAI, Anthropic or Google, with a daily spending cap (50 cents by default) that keeps costs to cents. Hit a limit? Rotty Local fills in until your model is back, then switches back by itself. YOU'RE THE BOSS - Relaxed, Balanced or Strict: choose how picky it is - Turn each kind of junk on or off, everywhere or for one site - Switch it off for any single site - Always show: list the communities, accounts and people it should never touch - Pause it for an hour from the toolbar - Works on both the new and the old Reddit layout PRIVATE BY DESIGN - No servers: we never receive the posts you read, your keys or your settings - No account, and no analytics or tracking in the extension - Authors' usernames are never sent to any model - Post text goes straight from your browser to the provider you picked, or nowhere at all with Rotty Local Privacy policy: getrotty.vercel.app/privacy WHO IT'S FOR You've scrolled past the hundredth "Great post!" reply. Reply sections have turned into bots talking to bots. Your professional feed reads like a motivational poster, and every useful thread is buried under people selling something. This is a filter for exactly that: it cleans up comment sections, declutters your timeline and cuts the noise, without muting topics or keywords you actually care about. FAQ Is it free? Yes. With your chat plan, a free key or Rotty Local, it costs nothing extra. With your own paid key it uses small, cheap models and stops at the daily limit you set. Will it ever hide something good? Sometimes. That's why nothing is deleted: every hidden post says why and opens with one click, and "Not slop" keeps it visible from then on. Choose Relaxed if you'd rather see more.
