root workspace is a private-by-default local workspace for working text in Chrome. Use it for the text that is not ready to become a doc yet: rough notes, pasted research, page links, tasks, reusable snippets, and ideas you are still shaping. root is also lightweight context infrastructure for AI-assisted work. Keep project notes, decisions, tasks, links, snippets, and handoff context in a workspace you control, then choose the exact slice to send to ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, browser AI sidebars, a doc, a coworker, or another person. Your context stays portable instead of being locked inside one chat or one platform. root is not trying to be a giant note archive or a heavy project system. It is a lighter work surface for getting things down fast, keeping the useful bits close, and handing off only what you choose.
