Common name: Rock Pigeon (Rock Pigeon or Rock Dove) Scientific name: Columba livia Body: Ash gray, is the main color. Neck and upper chest: Iridescent green and purple when exposed to light. Wings: Two prominent horizontal black stripes. Eyes: Prominent reddish orange, slightly white eye rims. Legs: Reddish pink, with small claws. Beak: Grayish black, with a white waxy part at the base of the beak (called the cere). Size: Adult birds are about 30–35 cm long. Body: Plump, small head, short neck. Flying well, often seen in urban areas, parks, rooftops. A bird familiar to humans, has been domesticated for a long time. Cooing is a characteristic sound when calling.
