Rivet — YouTube speed reader

Overview
RSVP-style YouTube caption reader. Rivet pins the optimal-recognition-point letter in red so your eyes stay anchored.
Rivet overlays YouTube captions on the video as a single-word, fixed-position display, using the rapid serial visual presentation (RSVP) reading technique. Each word's optimal-recognition-point letter is tinted red so your eyes stay anchored at one spot while the words flow through it. Inspired by Spritz® and other RSVP speed-reading tools, brought to YouTube as a free, privacy-respecting browser extension. How to use: • Hover the YouTube player. A "Rivet" badge appears in the top-right corner. • Click it. The overlay starts reading along with the video. • Drag the overlay to reposition; release it back at the home position to return to dynamic auto-anchor. • Hover for size (− / +) and CC controls. • Click × to dismiss. Features: • Works on any YouTube video with captions (auto-generated or human). • Smart caption detection: pre-written captions are detected automatically, and Rivet silently switches to YouTube's auto-generated track (when available) for smoother word-by-word pacing. One-click revert from a small info badge. • Toggles native captions on/off independently. • Resizable; remembers your size, position, and on/off state per device. • Suppressed automatically on YouTube Shorts and non-watch pages. • Zero data collection. Nothing leaves your device. Settings live in your browser's localStorage on youtube.com. From Simmer Industries. Source + privacy policy at rivet.simmerindustries.com.
