Rivea is an AI reading companion for people who read deeply across languages. It helps you read web pages and PDFs with paragraph-level translation, contextual chat, vocabulary capture, note export, and reading history. You can connect your own compatible AI service and choose the setup that fits your workflow. Core capabilities: - Translate paragraphs and selected text while keeping the original context visible. - Ask questions about a paragraph, selection, article, or PDF section while reading. - Save vocabulary with context for later review. - Export notes to Obsidian, Bear, or Notion. - View reading history and basic reading stats inside the extension. - Discover similar articles and related reading based on what you are reading. - Choose between cloud-powered recommendations or recommendations that run locally on your device. - Optionally sync selected local data to your own cloud storage with end-to-end encryption. Supported reading surfaces: - Standard web pages - PDF documents opened in the browser Why Rivea is different: - Use your own AI service key instead of routing requests through a Rivea server. - Translation and chat requests are sent directly to the AI service you choose. - Your saved vocabulary, reading history, and recommendation data stay on your device unless you explicitly enable export or sync. - Similar-content suggestions can also run locally for users who prefer not to send article text to a cloud service for recommendations.
