RewriteRex turns any text you select into an AI action — right where you're reading or writing. Highlight text on any page, then translate, rewrite, summarize, or explain it. The result streams in live and — on editable fields — can replace the original in one click. Great for email, docs, chat, social, and reading foreign-language articles. WHAT IT DOES • Translate to Traditional Chinese, Japanese, or English • Rewrite — more natural, or business tone • Polish Japanese into proper business keigo • Summarize long passages into key points • Explain a passage, or explain an engineering error message HOW IT WORKS 1. Select text, right-click ▸ RewriteRex ▸ pick an action (or press Ctrl+Shift+Y to repeat your last one) 2. The answer streams into a small, draggable, resizable panel 3. Click "Replace" to swap it in place (Gmail, Notion, X, Slack, plain inputs), or just copy it BRING YOUR OWN KEY (BYOK) RewriteRex works with any endpoint that exposes the OpenAI-compatible chat-completions API — including your own local proxy. The Options page ships with quick-setup presets and a "load models" button that lists the models your endpoint actually offers, so you can get going in a click. PRIVACY FIRST No backend. No tracking. No analytics. Your API key and settings are stored only in your browser. Selected text is sent only to the endpoint you configure, and only when you trigger an action.
