Retake the Lake

Renames “Lake America” back to the proper “Lake Ontario” on web pages and adds a note to Lake Ontario on Google Maps.

Retake the Lake corrects one place name. Where a page says "Lake America," this extension displays "Lake Ontario" instead. It works in two ways: • On regular web pages, it rewrites the text — including cases where the name is split across markup, plus tooltips, alt text, and the browser tab title. • On Google Maps, it adds a small clickable badge over the lake. Click it for a short explanation of where the name comes from. A note on Google Maps: the name painted on the map itself does not change. Extensions can’t rewrite the text in a map, so the badge is a workaround. The extension does correct the Maps sidebar, search results, autocomplete, and tab title. Both features have their own on/off switch. This extension collects no data, sends nothing anywhere, and changes only what is displayed.
