Overview

Compares a job posting with your resumes: what's missing, what's buried. Any profession. Never invents experience you don't have.

Stop guessing whether a posting is worth your time. Resume Gap reads the posting, compares it against your resumes, and shows you the difference as a list you can act on. ANY PROFESSION There is no fixed list of skills. Resume Gap pulls the distinguishing terms out of the posting itself — "reconciliation" and "e-invoicing" in accounting, "Google Ads" and "SEO" in marketing, "triage" and "ACLS" in nursing. Software postings additionally get a built-in dictionary of 122 terms. How it strips out the filler: the 8,000 most common words of each language, plus the boilerplate every posting repeats ("team player", "strong communication skills", "detail-oriented"), are removed before anything is counted. What remains is what actually separates you from the next applicant. WHAT IT DOES • Scans the posting on screen — LinkedIn, Greenhouse, Lever, BambooHR, Workable, and company career pages. • Tells sections apart: requirements, responsibilities, nice-to-haves, tech stack. The company pitch and the benefits list are weighted down to almost nothing, so words sitting there cannot inflate your score. • Upload more than one resume. Each is scored separately, and it names the one to send for this posting. • Produces three lists: – In the posting, not in your resume – Present in your resume, but buried at the end of a line – Dead weight for this posting (never mentioned, yet prominent in your resume) WHAT IT WILL NOT DO It does not add a single word to your resume. When a term is missing, it does not write it in — it asks you whether you have actually done it. Putting a technology you have never used on a resume surfaces in the first technical interview, and that cost lands on you. This extension will not create it for you. It also will not hand you a percentage for every page. If the posting has too few distinguishing terms, it says "I am not giving a percentage for this page" and explains why. Finding one term and knowing it is not a 100% match. WORKS IN 10 LANGUAGES English, Turkish, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Polish and Russian. It recognises section headings in each one ("Requirements", "Aranan Nitelikler", "Anforderungen", "Требования"...). The interface itself is English or Turkish, picked from your browser language. OPTIONAL AI LAYER — WITH YOUR OWN KEY Out of the box, it runs with no AI at all; the dictionary-based matching answers instantly. If you want a deeper read, enter your own API key: Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Gemini, or your own endpoint (Ollama, a company gateway). We never see the key. The request goes from your browser straight to the provider you chose. There is no server in between — there is no server at all. The cost is not hidden either: before every call it shows you the estimated token count and asks you to confirm. One analysis averages 3,600 tokens (about US$0.0006 per scan with Gemini Flash). Scanning the same posting against the same resume a second time costs nothing; the result comes from cache. WHERE YOUR DATA LIVES Your resumes and settings stay in this browser, in chrome.storage.local. They are never uploaded anywhere. Removing the extension deletes them with it.
