ResistGate — Website Blocker with Typing Challenge
Overview
Distraction blocker that adds a typing challenge before sites like YouTube, Reddit & X. Friction, not a hard block.
Add a short typing challenge in front of the sites you open too much. It gives you a second to stop and decide. It happens without thinking. You open a new tab and go straight to YouTube, or Reddit, or X — before you even decide to. A few minutes turn into an hour, and you're not sure how you got there. ResistGate puts a tiny wall in the way. When you try to open YouTube (or Reddit, or X, or whatever your poison is), it stops you and makes you type out a short phrase first. That's it. Type it and you're in. Or don't, and close the tab like a responsible adult. The whole point is that little pause. Most of the time it's enough to make you go "…actually, why am I here" and get back to what you were doing. Why this and not a normal blocker? You've installed hard blockers before. You also turned them off about ten seconds later, because a locked door just makes you want to kick it down. ResistGate doesn't lock the door. It just makes you knock. Weirdly, that works way better. How it works Add the sites you want to block. Any URL works. Try to open one of those sites. ResistGate pops up and asks you to type the phrase. Type it to continue, or bail and close the tab. No account. No sign-up. Nothing saved online. Who it's for Anyone who opens the same few sites out of habit. Developers who jump to Reddit or YouTube while working. Students trying to focus during study time. People working from home with no one around to keep them on track. Founders who open X "for a minute" and lose an hour. Features Add any website you want to control. Turn it on and off on a schedule. A button to close the tab without typing anything. A simple weekly summary: how many times it stopped you, how many times you walked away, and the site you're tempted by most. Light and fast. It won't slow your browser down. Your data stays with you Everything is saved on your device — your sites, your settings, your stats. ResistGate doesn't sell your browsing history, because it never sees it. Try it for a week Install it, add one site you open too much, and see what happens the next time you reach for it. Most people are surprised how often they close the tab instead of typing the phrase. That small moment is the whole point of the extension.
