Overview

Get a system notification when OpenAI resets the Codex usage limits. Alerts come from codex-resets.com.

Get a system notification when OpenAI resets the Codex usage limits, without keeping a website open. This is an unofficial extension. It is not made by, affiliated with, or endorsed by OpenAI or Codex Resets. The reset information and the alerts come from Codex Resets (codex-resets.com), an independent site that tracks Codex usage limit resets. The extension depends on that site: if it stops sending alerts or its public API is unavailable, the extension cannot show them. WHAT IT DOES • Shows a notification when Codex Resets predicts a possible reset and when it confirms one. Clicking a notification opens its link, such as the announcement. • Checks for missed alerts: while alerts are on, it compares the public reset status with the alerts it received, at browser startup and every 3 hours, and tells you plainly when push did not deliver a reset. • The popup shows whether alerts are on and when the last one arrived, the latest reset, the total number of resets, the average interval, the time since the last reset, the full reset history as a calendar heatmap (regular, banked and no reset days), and the five most recent resets. • Optional: "Keep alerts with Chrome closed" asks for Chrome's background permission, so Chrome keeps running after its last window closes and alerts can still arrive. It does not help once you quit Chrome or turn the computer off. • Light and dark themes follow your system setting. Alerts arrive while Chrome is running. They are about the public reset events, not your own account: the extension cannot see your OpenAI account or your personal usage. DATA AND PRIVACY (please read before installing) • Alerts stay off until you turn them on, in the welcome page or the popup. Both show this disclosure first. • Turning alerts on creates a push subscription in Chrome and sends it to codex-resets.com: a unique address for this subscription at Chrome's push service (Firebase Cloud Messaging, operated by Google) and the keys that encrypt each alert. Codex Resets uses it to send the alerts, and the push service delivers them. While alerts are on, the extension sends a new subscription the same way when Chrome replaces it or after a missed alert. • Turning alerts off removes the subscription from Chrome and asks codex-resets.com to remove its record. The extension cannot confirm or guarantee that the site deletes it. • The popup, and the missed-alert check while alerts are on, read public reset data from codex-resets.com. • As with any web request, codex-resets.com and the push service see your IP address. • Your alert settings and the last alert received stay on your device, in Chrome's local extension storage. • There is no account, sign-in, analytics, advertising or tracking. The extension reads no web pages and no browsing history, and its developer receives none of your data.
