Overview
PDF viewer for papers. Drawings and reading position follow you across Chrome profiles and devices via your own Google Drive.
ResearchPDF is a Chrome PDF viewer for people who read papers. PDFs you open on the web or from your computer gather in one tab, papers it recognises come with their venue and citations, and your drawings and reading position follow you to every Chrome profile and device through your own Google Drive. ■ Everything about the paper, in one line • Recognises papers by DOI, arXiv id or title and shows the venue, year and kind (journal, conference, preprint, survey). • Total and last-two-years citations, with a per-year citation chart. • The reference list, most cited first, one click from each paper. When the databases have no list, it reads the one printed in the PDF. • Copy BibTeX or APA in one click. • Data from OpenAlex, Crossref, arXiv and Semantic Scholar (optionally with your own API keys). ■ Your drawings and place follow you • Highlighter, pen and text notes right on the PDF. • The same paper is recognised by its content, whatever its file name or path, and opens with your drawings, last page and zoom. • Connect your Google account to sync through a hidden app-only folder in your own Drive. The PDF files themselves are never uploaded. • A paper open in two places shows drawings made in either one live. ■ Papers stop scattering among your web tabs • PDFs gather in one tab per project, with their own tab strip (Alt+Shift+←/→ to switch, Alt+W to close, Alt+Shift+T to reopen). • Sort papers into projects, group projects in folders, and drag them into your own order. Give a project an icon, emoji or color — its tab in Chrome shows it. • Close a project's tab and reopen it later with the same papers. Pin the ones you keep coming back to. • The home page lists every PDF you have opened, with reading progress and search. ■ Figure and table capture • Press S and drag to copy any region as an image. • Press S again and it finds the figures and tables on the page; click one to copy it with its source. Detection runs on your device with a model shipped inside the extension. ■ Privacy • PDFs are read only in your browser. To look a paper up, only identifiers (DOI, arXiv id, title) go to the scholarly databases. • Synced data lives only in your own Google Drive (app-only folder), never on a developer server. No ads, no analytics, no tracking. • Privacy policy: https://research-pdf.croksuter.com/privacy.html#en Questions and bug reports: https://github.com/Croksuter/research-pdf/issues
