Research Replay: Tab History & Source Notes

Save tab history, source notes, and decisions from serious web research sessions.

Start a research session, browse normally, mark important sources, add notes, and save the reasoning trail before closing the tabs. This extension is built for developers, founders, analysts, and other browser-heavy researchers who need to preserve how they reached a decision. It records tab history and source-to-source paths only while an explicit research session is active. Page text capture is manual, selected text capture only happens from the context menu, and all research data stays local in the browser. Useful examples: - Compare competing products and preserve the pages that shaped the conclusion. - Research an API or technical decision and keep the docs, issues, and dead ends together. - Reopen a previous investigation with its saved conclusion and unresolved questions. Features: - Manual research sessions with a question. - Side panel for active recording, notes, review, and archive search. - Tab history, dwell-time approximation, source paths, and main search queries. - Important, evidence, irrelevant, and dead-end page marking. - Start a session from selected text and save that selection as initial source context. - Manual page text capture using activeTab instead of broad host permissions. - End-session review with conclusion, main reasons, open questions, timeline, role groups, and evidence cards. - Markdown artifact export, clipboard copy, single-session JSON export, full JSON backup, import, and local wipe. - Archive filters, search, sorting, follow-up sessions, and reopen actions for saved investigations. - Sensitive-page capture warnings, custom denylist domains, raw text discard controls, and incognito recording disabled by default. Browser notes: - Research Replay does not automatically read every page. - It does not use broad host permissions or all-sites content scripts. - It does not make remote network calls, use analytics, show ads, or track users.
