Renarrator — your videos, your narrator
Overview
Choose a voice for videos with local AI narration, free computer voices, and optional voices using your own provider keys.
Same video. A voice that works for you. Renarrator turns a video's captions into narration in the voice you choose. Listen to lessons and talks in a familiar voice, at a pace you can follow, while Renarrator helps keep the speech in time with the picture. Stop listening any time to bring back the original audio. HOW IT WORKS 1. Open a captioned video in desktop Chrome and turn on captions where available. 2. Open Renarrator from Chrome's toolbar. Choose a narrator, a language, and a comfortable speaking pace. 3. Press play. Renarrator prepares narration while you watch. VOICES • Local AI voices (Kokoro) are generated inside Chrome on your computer. The voice model downloads once and is reused. • Optional cloud voices (Google Cloud, OpenAI, ElevenLabs) use your own API key. The text to narrate goes directly to the provider you choose, and that provider bills your account. LANGUAGES • Local AI voices in English, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, and Hindi. • German narration uses computer voices or your own cloud provider key. • English captions can be translated on your computer, using Chrome's built-in translator when its language pack is available or a one-time translation model download. WHERE IT WORKS Captioned videos work best, for example on YouTube, Udemy, and other web videos with caption tracks. For supported videos without captions, Renarrator can transcribe the tab's audio locally on your computer; preparing that takes time. Site restrictions and caption availability vary, and caption or transcription mistakes are read aloud. PRIVACY With local voices, caption text and generated narration stay on your computer. Local transcription and translation also run on your computer. Account sign-in and subscription checks use the internet. Renarrator's server never receives your captions, transcripts, recordings, or generated audio. Full details: https://renarrator.com/privacy PRICING • Computer voices are free. • Free AI trial: 30 minutes of played AI narration. Sign in with a six-digit code sent to your email. No card or password needed. • Subscription: USD $9.99/month (plus applicable taxes) for unlimited local AI narration and voices using your own provider keys, on up to three devices. Billing is handled by Lemon Squeezy. Seven-day refund on your first payment. • Cloud provider charges are separate and billed by that provider. GOOD TO KNOW • Renarrator mutes the original audio while it narrates, including music and sound effects. Timing adjustments may briefly pause the video. • It does not change or download the video itself. • The first local voice download is about 326 MB; keep enough free disk space.
